Yet another cop shooting dog I'm going ahead and putting this in off-topic: Cop kills dog while responding to call | KXAN.com Nevermind how furious I am. I just want to know what safety measures I can take so my dog doesn't die to a cop shooting him. I only feel lucky Yorkies are so small. That reduces the likelihood of your dog dying by cop...some. I feel for bigger dog owners who must have it far worse. I don't feel any less need to rally behind owners of bigger dogs just because I myself have a small dog. |
Its terrible when cops or people shoot someones dog. Dogs bark at people that's the only way they have to communicate. I understand it a little more if the dog is snarling, growling and showing teeth and about to attack them but its ridiculous the dog was shot just for barking. |
The article says the officer told the man to put his hands in the air & get his dog, Really ? How do you get your dog with your hands in the air ? What a POS !!! |

I read the article earlier WTH! He didn't even have the right house and he responds with his gun drawn.....? What a tool. Why didn't he use pepper spray on the dog if he felt threatened? Cops have a "pit bull" mentality. |

I need to get restraints for Ranger in the car anyway, and for dangers much worse than death by cop (as in hitting my brakes just a little bit). It's hard to get a dog as small as a yorkie safety-restrained in a way that he still gets to look outside the window. But it sounds like that is the best way to prevent death by cop in the car by far. If the dog is in a restraint chair, in the car, on the cop's dashcam, that seems about as safe as you can reasonably get. I don't think it would have saved the big dog in the Cookeville, TN traffic stop incident, though (you can youtube that). |
