I'm sorry to hear this! I know this may sound really silly, but are you feeding them? Is there enough algae in the tank for them to feed off of? My husband always fed the critters in the tank, but only about once a week or so. |
I keep fancy goldfish in my aquarium and koi in my pond. Ive found it alot easier to keep coldwater fish. I love watching salt water aquariums though they are neat just not for me. |

I asked another shop today and they said there isn't anything else I can feed Patrick since his kind only eats the algea and leftover fish food and waste. They said he should be ok. What does your DH supplement them with? |
Glad to hear Patrick is doing well! |
I haven't been to this thread in a couple of days and there have been 6 fatalities?!!! Glad to hear that Patrick is doing well. |
I never had a salt water tank. Just a fresh water one. TOOOOOOOOOOOO much work for me! Yorkies are much easier!!! :) |

But yes, six fatalities! First the emerald crab, then the two hermit crabs, and no they did not drown . Then Shrimpy and the two snails. :( If Patrick croaks I think I am going to do a fake tank with all Spongebob figurines in it. I can't handle the guilt. |

So far I'm thinking it was salinity shock. It's common practice (though not good practice) for many shops to keep their salinity low to save on costs. Then you get them home to put in your tank at regular salinity and they freak out and die. Then you go to the shop and ask what happened and they tell you, oh you need to buy this and test this, and when it comes back normal then you can buy more stuff from me. |
