Good for you Christine! I quit smoking 5 years ago by using Chantix. The medicine worked miracles for me! I'd say I craved cigarettes for about the first 6 months after quitting. I never crave them now. You can do this!:) |

Thank you. She put me on the lowest dose possible of wellbutrin. She suggested Chantix but insurance doesnt cover it. LOL. I am willing to pay for it if it would work but thought I'd go the covered route first. Mentally I am ready so I think I'll be ok. But I woke up this morning thought about them for a minute and it was easy to shake it. Surprisingly. yay! :) Staying positive. |
Your house, your car(if you smoked in it - some don't) and your clothes, breath and hair will all smell so much better before long. When I smoked, I had no idea a non-smoker could tell I smoked unless I had a lit cigarette but nonsmokers can. I have known some smokers whose skin even seemed to smell of nicotine and tar. After you have quit a while, you can smell another smoker just standing next to him, even though he's got no lit cigarette! The scent from all those previous cigarettes is on and in them and their belongings. To free your body and possessions of all that tar and other nasty carcinogens is another wonderful plus! |
GOOD LUCK! Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your loved ones. I did it years ago ago, best decision I ever made. Just remember that it is not easy and you have some hurdles ahead but you can do it if you really want to. |

I know my car stinks because my daughter tells me. :( I've never smoked in the house so I am good there. Probably going to go through and wash sweaters and jackets soon that don't get washed all the time though because I know they stink. LoL. |
Yes, once you stop, it's all good. All kinds of good things begin to happen to your body and surroundings. |
Day three. Woot! :D Yesterday got tough. |
Woo hoo! You can do it:) |
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! Chew gum! I used to chew sometimes 3 packs of sugarless gum a day! I quit for a year, years ago, but did go back. I told my new husband that I would make quitting a priority and have looked into an e-cig, those supposedly help in quitting too. I wish you all the best of luck and know if you put your mind to it and having an aid to help you will get you through the rough patches! I work in computers, so when I quit that time I used to get cravings at work and I would open a Word doc and just start typing away my craving rage until it calmed down and went away. I saved it for month & months, then reread it. It was hysterical (and VERY R-rated). But I was so proud of myself. |
Day four. Coming here to say I am still going does help. This thread is my support system. LOL! :D But I do think I have this tackled this time. |
