Trayvon Martin An unarmed 17 year old boy was shot and killed by a 26 year old man who outweighed him by over 100 pounds. The killer is claiming self-defense, when all the kid had on him was a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea, and so he has not been arrested. I am truly heartbroken over this. I'm not too active on this forum, but I know there are a lot of members on here and if you could please take a few minutes to read Trayvon's story and sign this petition, I will greatly appreciate it. Here is an article about it: FBI, Justice Department to Investigate Trayvon Martin Killing - ABC News Sorry to be so annoying about this, but I am completely outraged. I can't believe a murderer is free as a bird after killing a kid. I am disgusted by our justice system. |
The Justice Department announced today it will be investigating this death. This whole episode ending in the killing sounds suspicious to me. It sounds to me as if the older man was stalking the kid, in that he pursued him when told not to. Of course we don't know what happened but hopefully we can reserve judgment for a while longer while the FBI really goes over every detail. But that cry for help on the tape sounds like a young person's voice to me. |
I've read about the 911 calls, but I can't bring myself to listen to the calls. Hopefully the FBI can get to the bottom of this. According to the above article, the man sounded intoxicated when he called about the boy. |
He didn't sound right, now you mention it. |
I feel so bad for this young man's family. If what is reported is true, that this neighborhood watch gentleman was a bit fanatical, I also feel so bad this young man's life ended in this way. It is reported he was going to the store during a break in March Madness games to get something to snack on. Also, on the 911 call, the dispatcher told the neighborhood watch guy to quit following the young man, that it was not necessary. It was reported on a morning show, he was on his cell phone talking to his girlfriend, and she heard the interaction up until the phone went dead. |
I meant the young man was on the phone w his girlfriend when the watch man approached him. |
Wow, this is insane. I signed. I hope they get to the bottom of this :( |
JUSTICE??? department ...let's hope so. |

Thank you, Couvers Mom. Kazzy, I certainly hope so! His family at least deserves justice. |
There are "hot dogs" like this neighborhood watch volunteer in every community. It's unfortunate that he was allowed to carry a gun while doing this volunteering. That poor kid may as well have had an X on his back, because he was doomed as soon as the "hot dog" saw him. I hope he is arrested and charged with murder, because there is no other word for it than murder. It's a shame when laws are made that cause things like this to happen and then these people are allowed to hide behind a law that doesn't really apply to the situation. |
