Please Say a Prayer For My Avery Cat If you could all say a prayer for my Avery cat it would be appreciated. I have noticed lately that Avery is really starting to slow down. He sleeps all day, eats less and I think he eyesight is going (and I think he may have dementia, he will sit in the corner facing the wall and get lost at night in the house). I was petting him last night and I noticed he has lost a lot of weight and some time he has a very strange odor, the only way I describe it like he rolled in garbage (he didn't, Avery is an indoor cat and does not have access to garbage). I am thankful that he does not appear to be in pain and still purrs when you talk to him. I just think my boy is getting old, he will be 14 in May. I took him in for his dentals over Christmas and they extracted four teeth, after that he was very chipper and active now he is just not acting right. I am taking into the Vet tomorrow for a check up so please if you can offer up a prayer for my old boy I would appreciated it very much. |
I will keep your sweet baby in my prayers. My Snuggles is 18 years old. She has been a sweetheart cat. You sure get attached to them. Hoping you get good news at the vet tomorrow. Hugs. |
Sending prayes for your sweet Avery. Hope all is well with him at the vet and maybe he is just slowing down some with age. It's so hard when they get older and we start noticing the changes in them. Hugs to you both! |
Thank you both, I am sure he will check out fine but I am his Mom and it is my job to just make sure. I have raised Avery since he was 3 weeks old and he doesn't know any other life than with me as his Mom. |
Sending special prayers for a special kitty... |
:(. I so hope everything is okay. So many senior kitties develop kidney issues (mine did too, before she passed at age 20). I really hope it's something minor. You are such a good Mama...he's in good hands :). |

I'm so sorry that your baby isn't doing well. His sitting by the wall or not finding his way around at night very well could also be his failing eye sight. His odor is caused from an infection somewhere in him and he really needs to be seen by a Vet. I will pray he will be back to his normal self in no time. |
I am keeping Avery in my prayers. I, too have a cat, Emma and know how worried we get if anything is out of the ordinary. Hope all goes well with the vet visit. Hugs, Dyan |
I'm keeping you and your sweet Avery in my thoughts and prayers. |
Checking in to see what the vet had to say. |
Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Hope all is well with Avery. |
Sorry for not updating quicker, I am having a really hard time with the news from the Vet (or lack of news). They are doing a full blood and urine screen on Avery, I should have the results on Monday. The big concern is Avery has lost almost 3 pounds since January. I knew there was a problem on Thursday evening when I was petting his back and I could feel his spine. I should add that Avery has been on a diet for two years and was suppose to lose 6 lbs, he has done really well and was averaging about 1.5 lbs a year so when I heard 2 lbs in 4 months I just lost it. The vet examined his eyes (with movement and then turning the lights out to make sure they dilated), everything seems fine with his sight. They also did an ultra sound on him and everything internally appears to be okay. No lumps or bumps on him, just losing weight like crazy. The Vet sent Avery home with me since she agrees he does not seem to be in pain (and they know Avery is only truly happy when he is with me and at home). Please keep Avery in your prayers, I can only hope this is part of the natural aging process and not something horrible that the Vet said they wanted to test for (Renal Failure, Cancer). |
I am sending positive thoughts and praying the tests come back perfect. Glad to hear the vet let him go home with you. |
Keeping Avery in my prayers. Hugs to you. |
