Quick question for all seamstresses I have always just picked up scissors at Walmart (Fiskars) but want a decent pair now. What brand do you use/recommend. I have been looking at Gingher scissors. What is a good size (keep in mind I normally only work on Doggie things:p) Thanks in advance for all advice!! I tend to research to death a product before I purchase and it would be nice to get some first hand reviews. |
The Ginghers are worth the investment. JoAnn Fabrics puts them on sale periodically. I bought mine during their huge Labor Day sale. :) |
Thanks Kristin...from what I have researched and seen they do look like very good scissors. I think it is what my Mom has and I have threatened to swipe hers:D |
oh I LOVE my Ginghers, I just had mine sharpen at my joann's and they are like NEW... |
I knew I could count on YT'ers to give me some feedback. I really don't think I need to research any longer. Everything I have read about and the reviews I have seen has been nothing but goo!!! Ginghers it is!! |

I like my friskars dressmaker sheers better than the ginghers and they require less sharpening IMO. |

Going to look at those now:D Joann's would have them wouldn't they?? |
Yes Joann has them - I think mine are the largest size dressmaker with the orange handle. I have many sharp scissors and always pick these up to use as a preference. The handle is comfy. |

Great thread....I'm looking for a good pair myself. Thanks all!:) I'll be hitting JoAnn's tomorrow. Oh my....that means I'll be coming home to add stock my fabric closet ;) |
I've always been told Gingher was the greatest too! I would love to have a pair! |
I love my Ginghers but also have an 8" pair of Horn scissors that I love. They are very lightweight. My next investment is going to be a pair of Havel's serrated scissors. They are the bomb for slippery fabrics. |
