Our city is a mess... Sorry guys I need a good rant... I really don't understand what is wrong with our city, but currently we are in week 5 of a transit strike, our professors at the university are very likely going on strike, on top of that the union at the university that controls security, janitors & IT people are also talking of going on strike. The water commission has been threatening, haven't heard much about them, and our health care workers are also talking about going.... REALLY! I thankfully have a car, so the transit strike has just been a nuisance for me, cause I usually bus to work (I work for the university as a teaching assistant) I have just been driving, but I've now had to pay meter fees all day or go out every 2 hours to move my car into a new 2 hour parking spot. But now my bosses and professors are going on strike???UGH. Apparently I'll still get paid unless the admin staff who do payroll go on strike. I just don't understand why our entire city fell apart all at once. Plus it's totally going to suck if our graduation is postponed. Sorry totally needed to get that out. I can't really verbalize my frustration here (at home) because I'm a teaching assistant and technically I should be supporting my bosses, but it still just royally SUCKS. |
Oh no!! I am so sorry. I hope things get worked out and everything goes back to normal. |
Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better after that rant. A good vent always help me :p |
When I saw your thread, the first thought I had was of storm damage!:D We've had so many bad storms and tornadoes down here last night that it isn't even believable. I hope things get straightened out soon. It seems like when things fall apart that they completely collapse. Good luck! |

It's been super annoying. And of course the parking patrol have been out full force, I had a friend who got a $100 ticket the other day . |

Well the professors averted a strike. They struck a deal today... AND finally the buses have reached an agreement, we could have buses back by Wednesday. Fingers crossed. Cause it's going to be a busy week for me, seeing the profs are still at work. |
Great! That will make things much better.:) |
Buses are finally back.... they are even free til the end of the month... however there was a "bomb scare" on a bus yesterday (first day back). Someone called 911 and said there was a bomb on a bus and hung up (police could not trace) and after the drivers were notified, a driver had just taken an abandoned gym bag up, and well he pulled over and evacuated just in case. Explosive units and everything were there, evacuated two nearby buildings. Turns out the gym bag had a towel in it. Oh our city... so glad I'm moving in September... |
