Mice in my apartment! HELP ME Ok I love animals but I have a mice problem in my apartment, I've been killing them for 3 weeks and I'm sick of it! My apt. management is doing NOTHING about it and I'm really ticked off! They keep coming over and saying "we don't know where they are coming from but at least you don't have squirrels in your apt." HUH??? I have written emails to the office manager, the owners and NOTHING! My last draw was yesterday when I called them in the morning to tell them there was a dead mouse in my oven and to please send someone to come and get it. They did (I was at work) but I am now missing a baby gate! They didn't leave a note that they were here so I don't know who took care of it or who stole my baby gate! I pay $800 a month to live here and I think I should be rodent free! I am so disgusted the I don't feel comfortable in my own apartment! Anyone know how I can fix this on my own? |
Being too nice about it. Tell them to get something done about it or you are reporting them at the end of the week! I wouldnt put up with that. I pay $750 for a crappy apartment on bad side of town. But they take care of me. We had roaches coming from downstairs and I told the several times but they were still coming. So I assumed they still didnt do anything. I went to the office and talked to manager and said I will not complain again. They either fix the problem or I was gonna report them the next day. Sure enough no more roaches. Matter of fact instead of sending the bugman out once a month, they send him twice now! Good luck. |
I have tried, they come over and tell me they don't know what to do becuase they can't find any holes in the walls. Obviously they are getting in somewhere! I have contacted the Dept. of Health and tried to get out of my lease with no luck at all! I lost it last week and took the apt. manager a dead mouse and after her totally freaking out I made the comment, "it freaks you out but you expect me to live with it?" I am so frustrated and just don't know what else to do! ugh........... |
If you keep reporting them to the Dept. eventually they will get tired of you lol and make the apartments get their acts cleaned up. Its unsanitary and just not normal to live with it. |
I would also be finding out who they sent over that day and make a complaint about the theif. Thats horrible! |
We had a problem like this in our old apartment and had to end up moving out. It was so disturbing and our landlord did barely anything about it and we have our little boy too...The super plugged holes with steel wool and it was exterminated which settled the problem for a minute...A neighbor in that building told me she had her apartment rodent sealed and the problem ended. It cost her $450 but she said it was worth it. Basically you hire an exterminator to come in and look for all the holes in your apartment and then they spray this substance into the holes. It fills the holes and the mice cannot get through it. It looks like a yellow foam but it is hard. She said that since she did it she has had no mice. You can try to get your landlord to pay, but if you are planning to stay in your apartment it might be worth the layout. This time of year is hard because they all want to be inside and keep warm. |
mice You need a CAT! Yorkies are suppose to be rodent catchers, but mine used to stand on chairs if one ran across the kennel floor..my first Katie actully screamed liek she was hurt when she saw one once. Ours came inside when it got cold (field mice)..so I had to set traps..always where the dogs could not get them. |
Too bad I don't live close to you because my gang would make short order of the mice. :D You should see what do they do if a desert rabbit gets into the backyard. Not a pretty sight :( |
mice Funny thing, mine have caught a number of birds and killed them..but a mouse is a "paws" off creature. |

Oh, Kimberly! Get you a couple of cats! Not kittens...but go to your local humane society and get a couple of fiesty cats. Gross as it seems, that'll help. Otherwise, keep complaining! How much time do you still have on your lease? |
Mice come in from out the cold...You can have the cleanest place ever and still get mice if you live in a city that is Highly populated with rodents(thank God it's just mice, I read here where a member had a rat.) You can clean, exterminate, but as long as your neighbor's have breeding grounds for them...You will have them also. |

I've heard that moth balls repell them, but I'm not sure that would help since you don't know where they're coming from. Every time you catch a mouse, bring it in to the office or super or whomever you need to. I'd also call the health department each time. Heck, I'd even call once a day until it's taken care of. I'd call the super, landlord, etc. once a day, too. I would not pay to have this taken care of since you are paying someone else to live there. If it were a house you owned, I would say to have it sealed, but I think this is someone else's responsibility. |
OK I QUIT!!!! The exterminator cam this morning (was supposed to come this afternoon so I had to take the morning off work) and told me that he had to see the dead mice to do anything???? Ummmm I call B.youknowwhat! He could not find one single hole in my kitchen that had not been filled but they are obviously getting in somewhere! I think I'm gonna wrap my whole kitchen in steel wool and moth balls, how pretty is that going to be? I am so frustrated I could SCREAM!!!!! |
Is there a co-op or farm store near you? We get a poison called "Boot Hill" that works great. It's all I ever use anymore. Of course you can't leave it where your puppies can get into it. I keep it behind a cabinet in the garage because that's where we get mice. Maybe you could put it under your stove. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send you a couple of packets that I have. As I said it works great! |
