Good book recommendations? I'm taking some books to my paperback exchange store today and I get so overwhelmed when I walk in with no particular books/authors in mind so I need some suggestions. I know I've seen this discussion here before a few times but can't pull up anything in search. I'm going to get the Hunger Games Trilogy (daughter has read it 3 times already but I got it from the library for her twice and now she has it on her Kindle) and then I also want the Maze Runner trilogy. That's not necessarily the only genre I want to go with.... also like medical mysteries and horror and just drama stuff. What's some of your favorites?? |
Jodi Picoult is my fave author <3 I LOVE My Sister's Keeper, The Tenth Circle, Nineteen Minutes, Perfect Match, House Rules... sooo many more, I really love them all. She has a new one out now that I can't wait to get. Ummm.... I started North River, by Pete Hamill, and like it so far! :) I LOVED The Art of Racing in the Rain. I loved Dog On It by Spencer Quinn, too... most dog books I tend to love, but maybe I'm biased, lol. |
Yes, that's what I need! Mostly good author suggestions. I tend to read all of one author at a time because I get attached but then need to find another. Thanks, I'll check those out. |
Yep, definately with Brit on this....Jodi Picoult's brilliant, she researches her books amazingly....and there are so many of them - by the time I've finished one, she's practically written another!! :) Patricia Cornwell? Kate Atkinson? Another couple to try....:D Sally x |
My FAVORITE authors are Dean Koontz (love all his books), Stephen King (mostly just like the books after about 95 or 2000), and Robin Cook (medical thrillers/mysteries). I also really liked The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Dog's Purpose, and This Much I Know is True. I just bought The Hunger Games to read this weekend hopefully :) |

However, very well written. I tried reading the Twilight stuff after reading Harris, what a difference. Twilight series is so poorly written compared. |

I have not read every Stephen King book though. I found some of the older books hard to read. They just don't capture my attention, so I don't get into them. Two of my favorites are The Stand and Under the Dome. Loved those! Also, Full Dark, No Stars was gooooood. It gave me nightmares. It was super creepy, and I didn't want to put it down lol. I've read all the Robin Cook books too. The very first book I read of his was Coma, back when I was in middle school. I remember checking it out at the library and the librarian asked my mom if she really wanted me to read it. I was hooked after that :p The Art of Racing in the Rain and A Dog's Purpose are books written from a dog's perspective. They are very good, you will laugh and cry. This Much I Know is True was hard to read. It's a big book, and I found parts pretty boring. I did finish it though, and was glad I read it. I probably won't read it again though. It just doesn't get you into it like the authors I like. If you find any new authors you love, let me know! Sounds like I would like it too :) |
I loved the Hunger Games trilogy. The Hunger games was the best out of the three but you will enjoy them all. The Help, Water for elephants, The art of racing in the rain, The girl who played with fire (and all the rest), the alchemist, Love in the Time of Cholera (one of my favorite classics)... |
Loved Hunger Games. My all time favorite series is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon there are 7 books with #8 in the works Outlander is the first book in the series. They are so great! |
I just read 11/22/63 by Stephen King. |

Thanks everyone. My used book store didn't have the Hunger Games so I'll just have to read them later but I did get a bunch of Jodi Picoult and others. |
