Yorkie Talkers Home Remedies for Yorkie Owners Just wondering, been a looong time since I've been down and out sick. Went to Dr. last night and let me leave even though wanted to admit me to hospital for dehydration. Went today and had an I.V. chest xray, bloodwork etc., Was sent home with BRAT like diet, antibiotics, and codeine cough syrup (thank the lord praise Jesus) cuz my head, chest, and ribs can not take one more minute of this coughing... So since Friday night, the only things I've had were NYQUIL, TYLENOL, IMMODIUM, PEPTO BISMOL, THERAFLU, SELTZER WATER, GINGER TEA (HOME MADE) CAMPBELLS CHICKEN NOODLE (the only kind I like when sick) BANANAS, APPLESAUCE, WHITE RICE AND WHITE TOAST. I want to start getting my strength, health and appetite back. What types of "home remedies" do you all use when you have sore throats, colds, stomach flu, etc? |

I know a lot of people are sick right now...as far as home remedies goes it sounds like you have taken just about everything out there!! For a sore throat try gargling warm salt water...(something my grandmother use to tell us to do)...I swear by vicks vapor rub ...but, like I said..sounds like you are doing everything you can...I hope you feel better soon |
I hope you feel better soon. I found sleeping is the best medicine. Once I start feeling better I eat a soft boiled egg with toast and jello. |
So sorry your sick. FRESH PINEAPPLE, we suck on slices of it when we have had sore throats, the juice from fresh pineapple helps reduce the inflamation, it really does work for us. Drink lots of water to keep hydrated. Prayers for a hurry get well real soon. Hugs, Patti and Jack |
A Cape Verdian woman once told me if you are sick, squeeze 1/4 of a lemon into a cup. Drink it without adding water. I don't know what her theory was, but I felt better when I listed to her. |
I am like Patti. All I want to do when I am sick is sleep. Resting seems to help me more than anything. |
For sore throats I take ben gay and put it on my neck and put a towel on my neck and wrap it around then I go to sleep. When Im sick I also put tons of covers on and go to sleep and try to sweat it out. I also use Vicks and put it right under my nose for a cold. Take zinc tablets for colds too. |
Oh my goodness, you poor thing! Taking all that stuff....you must rattle when you walk! :D Ok, British home-made remedies! For a cough - a big spoon of honey dissolved in a little hot water, sipped as a drink. For a dry tickly throat - a big glug of ordinary malt vinegar, a teaspoon of sugar and a little hot water, sipped slowly. I can remember my dad making this for me as a child in the middle of the night...it tasted a bit disgusting, but my goodness it worked! Good luck, hope you feel a lot better soon! Sally x |
I got to the point where the flu was practically killing me and left me sick for over a month. Now I get the flu shot, and I don't get the flu, it really works for me, and I hate being sick. I think the best tip I have once you have the flue is to drink lots of liquids, I love Top Ramen, and just make a cup of broth and throw out the noodles. It's so satisfying and feels so good to my throat. Hope you feel better soon! |
