That's pretty darn funny...especially the state and "U" question. I will open myself up here and say I was horrible in history in school. I didn't know a lot of those answers. I'm pretty embarrassed.

LOL....as the article mentions, you have to laugh to keep from crying. I'm calling my travel agent tomorrow and booking the flight to Utopia!

I used to tease my dd.. Some of the things they would come up with. My oldest said she thought vietnam was the name of a war.. Not a country. Really!

In my classes ..they have a hard time with measurements and kitchen math. But I will say they know what hyperboles means. I guess it is what the schools test for..

Funny you said this. I just had this very discussion with our curriculum instructor. We were leaning linear equations so I throw in a real life situation. It was on 2 different cell phone plans. They had to pick the best deal based on price per min and price per text. Lets just say I am going to go in the cell phone business soon because I will be rich. These kids could NOT do it. I told them I would be the new company to rip them off. :D It is very very sad because these kids are our future. :( But we have to focus on state testing not real life stuff they will use!

Yup that was pretty funny. I thought they did slightly better with the geography questions. And for the "U" country, it's like the way my mind works is not to think of the country I'm in, but someother place. lol

I am appalling at history, but even as a Canadian I got a few more of US history right then the students.

What is that statement?.... awh yes: If you don't know your h istory, you are doomed to repeat it.

That's sad... Im 14 and i knew the majority of the questions, not the war one though. But South America is a country that borders the US, we apparently have 51 or 52 states depending on who you're talking to, and Bin Landen is our Vice President. Oh Jeez, we're doomed!

WOW; that was REALLY bad, LOL. I think I knew all except one - can't remember which one, I watched this the other night. But that's really terrible.
