Hmmm, that's definitely worded different that the usual responses, but it still has many red flags about it. I think it's a scam. Good luck with your sale. |
Looks a little odd to me. I would request a phone # to speak in person. |
That is a known scam. Do not respond. |
Sounds like a scam. We got similar response when selling my husband's harley a few years ago. |
I would not reply. I was dealing on a horse trailer once that sounded similar to this. It was a scam thank goodness I never sent any information |
Looks like bad news to me...I wouldn't reply and I would block their e-mail address. :thumbdown I do wish you luck in your sale :-) |
Sounds like a pure scam... |
Yep this certainly screams scam big time. Don't reply to it . |
Go with your gut. If it quacks like a duck...etc!!! |
I agree with eveyone else, pure scam. |
Thanks everyone, I kind of figured it smelled bad. This is what my son wrote me when I ask him what he thought. It may help someone else: Total 100% scam. Don't be suckered mom. Anyone who: 1) can't write plain English, 2) can't come in person, 3) wants some really wierd transaction instead of just coming with cashiers check in hand, or 4) from some other country is a complete SCAM. For $60k, you better make sure you get a cashiers check or go to the bank with the buyer and confirm the funds have been transferred. Don't get desperate, and STOP talking to these fools! Craigslist is the absolute worst for these scammers. I've had multiple scammers make inquiries when I was selling cars. And he wrote this: a couple of other things. Don't trust anyone who wants you to wire balances. I've had a couple of classic scams where the guy was going to send me a check for more than the selling price, and asked me to wire back the difference. What happens is you do get a check, but it's bogus, and then you go down to the bank, cash the check, and wire the guy the difference. Problem is, he gets the wired money immediately, but it takes 3 days for the check you cashed to clear, and by the time the check fails to clear 3 days later, the guy is long gone with your money. Another thing - don't trust anyone that is working with an "agent", "partner", or anything else. If these fools don't want to show up in person, then don't trust it. I've heard the exact same story from the same scam above. He said he was a "representative" of a "client" who wanted to buy my Corvette. Total scam. In your case, if the person has $60k to blow on a coach, they can bloody well fly out to go to the bank with you, or send a cashiers check. No excuses. If they aren't willing to do so, don't entertain their interest. It could leave you out of $60k! |

scam!! |
I used to get this same message when I advertised horses... they'd offer to send a certified cheque, so all kinds of weird stuff. I simply replied, I'm sorry I will only accept cash in person, and they left me alone. |

It royally confused me, and caused a ton of headache cause I had to run around to banks and prove my identity, while I was trying to pay off my tuition. My bf told me to spend it, it's a good freaking thing I didn't |
You have a very smart son!!! That is totally a scam. I would even be careful of a cashiers check... you just have to be so careful!! |

And Son is 110% right! All comments he made should be sent to everyone who sells online. :) |
From the author of the Scam the Scammer thread, I say, no way! Even though they are not talking about Western Union, they can always do a Paypal claim and get ALL their money back. Saying they will pay Paypal charges is a big sign and having you not "have to worry" about shipping is another. Plus, their English is horrible, another sign. Sorry sweetie, find a real person. Or, play with them! Lmao. Tell them you had an offer for double and would they like to counter offer! If they say yes, you know 100000% they are scammers! Quote:

Just read what your son wrote! Smart guy! One more thing. Cashiers checks aren't always real either! Sometimes it takes banks up to two weeks to realize they are fake! Just an FYI. |
I always go to my son when I need some good sound advice. He's very, very smart and is always the one to take care of any ups or downs in the family. We all turn to him. I don't now as much as I use to because he's married with two little girls, 5 & 3. My husband is taking the coach off Craigs list. Seems there are just way too many scammers on there. |
I had a similar response when we were trying to sell our motorcycles last year! The guy wanted more pictures, and would send money immediately through paypal. I asked what kind of pictures, and he said something like "general pictures" which was odd because we had lots of pictures posted! I told him if he said what he wants to see specifically, I would send him a picture of it. Then I asked when we could meet and he said he couldn't meet because he was away with work. I said well, if it's a week or two, we can meet then. He said no, he's away for a long time. I was like "So how are you going to GET the bike???" and he was getting really upset with me and he said he has made arrangements. I was like great, have your arrangements come by with the money for it. He never replied again! I made sure not to give any information, but I wasn't going to just give in that easily! |
I've bought and sold some great stuff on Craigslist. You just have to watch out for those 419 scammers. They are trying to ruin EVERYTHING! |
When I sell things on Craigslist, I get a lot of scams. When I was unemployed last year, I offered dog sitting services. Well, this guy said he was a doctor and he was moving to my area. He offered to send me a check ahead of time for my services and told me he would send a couple hundred dollars extra so I could go buy the dog toys and food. He wanted me to cash the check and wire him the extra money back after I bought all of those things. Anyways, it was a HUGE red flag. I e-mailed him back and said I would still dog sit but if he was real, I would have to meet him first and I wanted cash. He never responded back. lol And what kind of person would move to my area, bring their dog... and not have toys and food? Don't trust people who don't want to meet you in person and can't write in English. I hope someone legitimate buys your coach. |
