Help with wedding flowers I need some help before tomorrow morning. I am going to order my bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I have decided to be classic and go with red roses. Anyways, I have no idea how many flowers should be in the bouquets! I have looked all over at pictures online, and I know I like the round looking rose bouquets, but it's tough to tell how big they really are. I see people suggesting 2-3 dozen for the brides bouquet, but my quotes only go to 18! It may be because we are getting them done at a grocery store (cheaper, and great reviews!) Anyways, I have never been married before, I have only been in one wedding party (and roses were not their flowers!) and I really haven't paid attention at any other weddings at how many flowers would be in the bouquets. Suggestions??? For the record, my choices of numbers of roses for the bouquets are 18, 12, 8, 6, 3, and 1. I thought maybe 18 for mine and 8 for the bridesmaids? Or 12 and 8? 18 and 12? I really don't know! |
I can't even remember anything about my flowers. Ha ha. Got married way too long ago. But I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding. She also had red roses. This is what she did. The focus was on her flowers. The bridesmaids each had one red rose with ribbons. Simple yet pretty. That way she could have more in her bouquet. Just a suggestion. Remember it is YOUR day! :D |
Thanks! I think I will have 18 in my bouquet. I guess I wonder if the other girls should have 12 or 8... maybe 8? I know usually the maid of honor has more, but I have just one MOH and one bridesmaid, so I think it would look better if they had the same. Otherwise it might look like my bridesmaid just got a crappy bouquet  I know that on the day none of this will matter anymore, but today I feel like it does matter lol! |
I had silk flowers at my wedding. My bouquet has all white and pale pink roses with a red (for each of my parents) and my bridesmaid and moh had bouquets with purpley/blue hydragea and lilac blooms, they were not overly large at all. I had a May wedding and had spring colors. My bouquet was teardrop shape with greens and streamers (for my mil ) trailing on the bottom. If saving money is the object, lesser flowers in your bouquet and maybe filling in with really pretty fern and baby's breath will help. As for your attendants, I don't think they need to be overly fancy. Maybe adding ribbons to the single flower idea will help dress it up? |
Price isn't really the issue because we are getting them way cheaper than an actual flower shop. I'd say what we're paying is at least a 75% less than what we thought we'd be paying (we tried real flower shops but they were already all booked months ago!). I guess I'm just wondering what is "normal" lol! It's hard to get a visual when they don't have any there for me to see. Would it look good for the bridesmaids to be about half the size of mine? If I had 18 and they had 12, would it look like theirs are too close to the size of mine? I know in the end it's really all up to me and there is no "normal" but it's just very hard for me to visualize! |
I don't think that the bridesmaids bouquets need to be like yours or near as large as yours. I've seen the single bloom for the attendants and it's look perfectly fine. You are the foucs of attention as BabyGirl Rosie said. |
Yes I'd keep the bridesmaid simple. One or three roses in the bouquet. How exciting for you! I love flowers |
Hey Linz. I am doing roses also. Mine are purple roses, just straight roses, no other flowers and 12 - 18 is appropriate for a bride's bouquet and then you decide if you want them out of the cooler for 1 day, 2 days or 3 days. Mine are going to be 18 roses out for 2 days. This makes them open enough to make quite a large round bouquet. My bridesmaids each have 4 white roses in their bouquet, some dark purple flowers and some raspberry stock, they do not have straight roses. I liked adding the color to theirs. Again their bouquet should not be as large as yours. If you wanted them to have straight roses, I'd say 6 roses, and let them open for 3 days (out of the cooler) and they will have appropriate size bridesmaid bouquets. Play with some cheap filler flowers for their bouquets and cut down on the roses if you want them to have a bigger bouquet but not look exactly like yours. Good Luck! :) |

Purple roses sound so pretty! This is off topic, but I'm curious, what are your wedding colors? I'm assuming purple is one of them :D |
I love the round rose bouquets and if you get them out of the cooler 2 or 3 days they will be nice and open and you will have a beautiful looking bouquet. When is your wedding??! How exciting! Have not even started to think about my wedding flowers yet! I do know I want pale pink roses though. My girls are wearing dark navy so I thought it would be a nice contrast. |

I knew I wanted red flowers from the start. It turns out roses are cheaper than carnations, which I wanted to begin with! We are having black and different shades of teal blue for our main colors (bridesmaids have teal blue dresses with a black sash/belt at the waist), and then red flowers and I am going to wear red shoes :) I'm a shoe girl, so I wanted to do something a little different! |

My wedding is in September. So excited!! Oh the teal dresses with red roses will look so pretty! Reminds me of the tiffany boxes with red ribbon at christmas! I am a TOTAL shoe girl too! Red shoes will look great! |
Are you going to take wedding pictures with your pups?! |
