Carol King!!! Just got revisiting some music from my younger years. After listening to Tapestry again, I'm still amazed at what a great album this is. Carols voice is amazing, the songwriting on Tapestry is still some of the best ever! Any other great music out there? |

Love Carol King! My older sister had that album in the 70's, we spent many boring summer days playing it and singing along. 2011 was the 40th anniversary for the album....it's hard to believe....40 years! Recently on PBS I watched a special on The Troubadour and the earlier artists that performed there. Carol King, James Taylor Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Eagles, and Elton John, were highlighted in the show. If you enjoy music from the time period, you would enjoy the show. |
I'll have to keep an eye out. Thanks for the heads up! The Troubadour! Now, that brings up some memories!!! |
I couldn't agree more!! :D Was listening to it myself only the other day - closely followed by a heart-felt rendition of the whole of the Bridge over Troubled Water album (poor, poor Harry!!! ;) :D) x |
Love Carole King! My mom took me (I was in my 30's) and my sister to see her a few years ago when she was doing The Living Room Tour. Awesome! She prefers to perform to smaller groups so the place we went did not sell the lawn seats (The Woodlands, TX) and it was really nice. But it's also amazing to know that she has written SO much more than she has ever actually performed herself. She's very interesting to read about. Bee Gees were the same way (regarding their writing of songs). The Tapestry album will always have a special place in my heart. |
I really like her too. I have that LP too :) Ahhh, Vinyl :) Sounds so good |
What about James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, or Neil Young? anyone interested? |
I have all their LP's too :D as well as Mammas and Pappas, *cough*barry manilow*cough* Santana and so on. :D Oh, my Favorite.... Bread. |
Totally agree, beecee!! :D And Harry Nilsson - and everything Motown - and I was 'confessing' on that thread only the other week to hollering away to Dream a Little Dream of Me.....more like a Little Nightmare with me singing it....  x |
Good ole' Neil Young, another one of my Favs. One newer artist I really like is Allison Krause. Voice of an angel! |
