I haven't baked in a while and couldn't quite get myself together to bake before the holidays. Sooo...last night I baked some sugar cookies and I decorated them this afternoon...no, those are not Santa hats and Christmas tree lights...those are plane ol' stocking hats that happen to be red and white and...well...I guess those are Christmas tree lights aren't they?? :p

Thank you ladies! I'm not crazy about the sugar cookie recipe I used...I think I'll look for a better one...they taste o.k. but I like the thick, fluffy ones and this recipe didn't quite get there.

Your cookies are so pretty! I was like you this holiday. I couldn't get into the mood and was so busy rushing around that I only baked one type of cookie instead of the three I wanted to do. Today the mood finally struck, and we baked the other two types of cookies after dinner this evening.

Now I need to start packing up all the Christmas decorations! It came and went so fast it seems!

Thanks! I made fudge a couple of days ago and our daughter came over with a simple little treat that she made so with those and the cookies I think it's safe to say I won't be starting that diet anytime soon :rolleyes:

Our daughter took a small pretzel, put a chocolate covered caramel candy on top (are they Rolla candies??), put that in the microwave for a few seconds just to soften it and then push a pecan or walnut half into the caramel. Simple and good! I might try those but I think I'll dip them in chocolate...you can never have too much chocolate...right??

That sounds so good. I did the square pretzels with the Hershey Kisses and M&M's on top. They were pretty good. The ones with M&M's had milk chocolate kisses. The others had the white chocolate and candy cane Kisses. I loved those ones!

Your cookies are beautiful!......I always intend to make mine nice but somehow after I do about a dozen they start to look like I frosted them with a trowel.....

I also love the big soft fluffy sugar cookies. Every time I give some to my mom she says I put crack in them because she will eat the whole bag in one day...:D

Thank you! My parents made wedding cakes, cookies and all kinds of candies when I was younger so I grew up around decorating supplies and learned to bake when I was pretty young. I use the frosting bags and tips to decorate everything...even when I make my deviled eggs I put the yolk mixture in a bag with a star tip and fill the eggs in a big swirl. I quit for a while though because I had damage in both arms from carpal tunnel but both arms were done last year so I'm at it again!

Oh my gosh!!! Adorable! You did a nice job decorating them! That's harder to do than it looks! I know, I bake a lot!!! I bet they taste yummy!! And yes that's THE best breakfast!!( with a diet coke!!:-) for me!!)

I couldn't either...I grabbed another one on my way through the kitchen a while ago :rolleyes:

I scolded my husband for getting into 'his' cookies that I don't care for...I told him he had to eat the ones I made so they would get out of here faster! lol!

I gave a dozen to our son and his family last night and another dozen is going to our daughter and her family in about 10 minutes but that still leaves a few.

Thank you...it did take some time but it was worth it and I do enjoy decorating. I had mine with about 4 cups of coffee...that should give me enough energy to get through the day!

Thank you Micah my love and TutBugaloo...I wish you could eat a few too...that would be less for me to have to eat and I'd quit grabbing one everytime I walk through the kitchen! lol!

I talked with my daughter last night and we're going to bake cookies for Valentine's Day and get together here to decorate them...that should be fun :)

That will be so much fun, while making precious memories :) before i got to many dogs to take along my DD, GD and me use to do stuff like this when i visited them at Christmas time..

Last summer I bought a huge box of Wilton supplies from a store that closed. My grand daughter wanted to make a cake so I gave her a supply kit...she made the cutest red/green and white cake to take to her Dad's at Christmas but she took a picture of it on her cell phone to show me...it was really cute. So, I imagine we will have fun decorating cookies together and I'll have my camera handy for future scrapbook material :)

I've already been checking out different blogs, the Wilton website and my decorating books for ideas...I found the cutest heart shaped cookies that look like the word candies so they are definitely on the list. Oh, and while searching through the recipe section I found a recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough cup cakes with cookie dough flavored frosting...I'll have to make those just for fun!
