Christmas shopping... who is your 'hardest' to shop for?
 
So I'm almost done my shopping except I have 4 people left. They are the hardest people to shop for!

My fiance. :eek: Hes 43, very technically saavy (geeky!). Has 2 sons (15 & 18), rides a motorcycle, is handy. Does not like coffee too much. Wedding is in March. He is not the best griller in the world.

My Dad and his wife, they are 60 & 59. Not too technically savvy at home, but my Dad does have a Nook. Dad likes coffee & wine but his wife does not. Dad reads but his wife does not. She likes jewelry but I can't afford it. They seem to like little trinkets and they take a lot of cruises. My dad buys cool bottles of alcohol that he does not drink, just buys them because he likes the bottles.

My grandparents. They are 80 years old. They have EVERYTHING they need. Due to illness they can't eat out much anymore. They don't drink caffeinated coffee anymore. My grandmother likes tea, but only Lipton decaf, that's it. They don't really drink alcohol/wine. They never burn candles.

Why are guys so hard to shop for?? :confused:

Anyone have any good ideas for the hard people to shop for?

I had thanksgiving at my niece's house this year and she had the coolest thing for people who like wine. It's called a corkcicle and them have them on Amazon. Hope this helps.

You can never go wrong giving a nice Shotgun, Rifle, or Pistol. A Gift Card at Cabela's is the gift that keeps on giving.

For your parents and/or grandparents: how about an nice shipment of Florida oranges, or a combo shipment from Omaha steaks? (Omaha also has precooked dinners and sides, which might be nice for your grandparents)

Hhhmmm I did not think of the Oranges. You can do that? My grandfather has very limited dietary needs due to his Congestive Heart Failure. Most premade foods have too much sodium for him and red meat is a BIG no-no. I love the Omaha gift idea but I can't do it. :( I might do that for my Dad though. The more I think about it, the more I like it!

That corksicle thing is awesome!!! I wish I knew of that a couple weeks ago, I would have gotten my mom one. My dad drinks box red wine, so it's never chilled and that won't fit in it. I love the idea though! :)

Now a shotgun... well I'm afraid of what any one of these people may use it on!!! LOL

Also, I have an affinity for geeky products, if you want to tell me a little more about his geeky-ness I might be able to show you some things on my own personal wish list that I think are awesome.. but Think Geek is a great site, you might find some fun stuff on there.

The hardest one for me to buy for is byfar my father. He doesn't like much that I get him, so I usually get him a Papa John's pizza (that's what he asks for) for birthdays and father's day, but since I sincerely doubt Papa John's will be open on Christmas, I have to get creative. He likes the Oakland Raiders, buuut for the mostpart he doesn't like what I get him. Last Christmas I got him one of those NFL toasters that brands the emblem for your team into your toast, but it just collects dust. Hmmm!

My husband (and I to a lesser extent) are geeky and we love ThinkGeek, him moreso I'm sure since he's very good with computers and hardware and such.

Just noticed this thread. The hardest to buy for is my dad and my husband. For dad, since he is having hip replacement surgery next month, we found him an adjustable cane that has flags all over it.

For hubby: (lean forward, have to whisper!) 2 remote control helicopters. One for him and one to share with his brother or our dtr's boyfriend.
Keep in mind this is a 47 yr old man. I think he will like it.

I also got him, for our anniversary which was the 17th. a hexbug spider. He loved it and was what he had sd he wanted. he has been playing with it like crazy.

my dad is hard to shop for. i got him thermal socks, some bird feeder suet, and a gift card to a farm and home store....:( i hope he likes that????

i agree with Steve. if i had the money to give guns i would and cabela's has things for everyone. i always use my gift card on fudge ;)

My dad is a nightmare to shop for! He doesn't have a lot of hobbies or an extensive list of things he needs/wants. Not into electronics or gadgets. I got him a nice tie this year. I think that's been a bit overdone. :)

My stepdad, on the other hand, is one of the easiest people on my list to shop for!

Seems like it's the men that are the hardest to buy for...

Definately the case here. My dad & my son. My dad has NO hobbies...very difficult to buy for. My Son has a ton of hobbies, but he always seems to need things at can't wait til Christmas time. He needed new hockey skates & pads, but back in October when the season started. He needed a new snowboard, boots & bindings and coat, but back in November before his snowboarding trip.

Funny you should post that -- son is just home from Afghanistan and can't think of anything for him! Everything I can think of seems so trivial! Mostly he seems to really be into FOOD :D

He has been gone so long he finds everything intriguing :D

My MOM! Gosh I am soooo bad at finding gifts for her. She doesn't really have any hobbies - she loves clothes but her clothes are wayyyy too expensive for me, LOL, and I'm not just going to buy her something cheap that she won't wear. She's not a tech person - she doesn't really watch a ton of movies - she owns a salon so gets most facial/shampoos/etc for free. Yes, she's very hard to shop for.

My dad has always been pretty easy. This year I got him The Band of Brothers/The Pacific gift DVD set, a pair of nice ski gloves, a nice watch, and some pictures in a frame, etc. He loves motorcycles, his iPad, movies, etc, so I can always find *something* for him.

My siblings are young so it's fun to shop for them! But I will say my 8yr old brother is at that age where he's getting a bit too old for some of the "popular" toys but not old enough for teen-type stuff either.
