Shipping from Canada-is this normal policy? I'm trying to find a waterproof snowsuit for Gus. I've found a few but the one I really want has to be shipped from Canada. When I spoke to them they said in order to ship to the US they need my social security number. They are a legitimate company (Muttluks) but I don't feel safe giving it out. Has anyone ever done this? |
I would never give out my ss#. Why would they need it? |
No!! I have bought things a number of times from Canada..don't give out your SS number..no need. |
I would say NO to that. Why in the world woulod they need your ss? Don't do that!!! |
Thanks, that is what I thought. I really want that one so I was slightly tempted even though I know better. I needed to hear that it isn't necessary to give SS to ship here. I wonder why they insist on having it. |
NO thats weird. Is it supposed to be for wholesale purposes or anything? There should be no reason anyone would need that number to make a sale. |
Hi, I just selected a Canadian merchant from a random search and this is what is on their shipping info, so unless that lil ol' snowsuit is terribly expensive (like over $2,000 :D ), then you are not required to give out that info: Tax ID Number or SSN For orders being shipped into the USA, US Customs declarations now require an SSN (social security number) or IRS ID number for orders over $2000 US. If your order is under that amount, you do not need to provide either number when ordering. http://www.hortico.com/ordering/orderhelp.asp |
