***The Crowds At the Michael Jackson Doctor Trial***
 

I cannot help but wonder about people these days! I turned over the Headline News to see if there was an update on the Michael Jackson "Death Trial" is so many call it and saw that a verdict was reached.

What is so shocking are the people crowding around the courthouse, some crying, some angry, most if not all of them grown or middle-aged, who are so vehement pro & con about the outcome of this trial! There are people from all over the world who have paid to come thousands of miles to attend or be near the scene of this trial and all seem to be so personally vested in the outcome! Some are so overwrought and emotional. Even if the doctor is found guilty, he will likely only serve a portion of 4 years most say, so I do not understand what it is that is so compelling to drive these folks to fight L.A. traffic to get there, no doubt pay top dollar to park, stand around for hours and get so involved in such a vigorous fashion. Some have been there every day! I enjoyed some of Michael Jackson's songs and performances but don't get the "pins & needles" (as some describe it) involvement of those people gathered there.

If you lived in or near L. A., would you find yourself a member of the crowd outside that courthouse waiting for a verdict?

And BTW, do you all think Dr. Murray is guilty as charged?

Good heavens, people, this is what TV is for:laugh: Seriously, even if I lived very close, you wouldn't catch me there with those loonies. Yes, I think he's guilty as sin, greedy and uncaring. But I can see the verdict on television;)

I am so glad Dr. Murray was found guilty. Irregardless of ANYthing surrounding Michael Jackson and his life and his celebrity status... Bottom line is that a DOCTOR was administering medicine not meant to be administered in a home, he was NOT monitoring him while on this medication, he did not properly address the emergency when it called for it and the patient died. Gross negligence, end of story.

I have NO doubt that MJ was an addict. He was not perfect, he could not sleep, he suffered from insomnia. If you are finally given something that knocks you out, you will want it again. Not sleeping is a terrible thing. I also have no doubt that he asked for the stuff. But MJ was not a doctor and could NOT write an RX. A doctor had to write the RX and prescribe it. Yes there were other doctors before who had given this stuff to him too, but it just so happened MJ died under Murray's "watch".

Bottom line is that MJ would still be alive if he had been 1.) properly monitored by the doctor (whom he was paying $150,000 a month)... 2.) when his body began shutting down, help would have been given sooner. 3.) 911 would have been called in a properly allotted amount of time. 4.) If the doctor in the room with MJ would have given CPR or known how to do it! and 5.) of course, if propofol had never been prescribed in the 1st place.

As for the fans... a lot of them get really passionate and crazy! There were people that really cared about MJ and were very passionate fans who stood by him through everything. So it doesn't surprise me that even after his death, they were there going crazy for him. Me personally? No, I probably wouldn't have gone, as I am not into big crowds and crazy people, LoL.

But I am very glad justice was served today. No, it will not bring MJ back, but I do think it brings some sort of peace. And hopefully brings awareness to the fact that doctors cannot get away with everything and no matter WHO your patient is, how famous, how much they beg, YOU are responsible for what you prescribe them, and doctors need to be a lot more careful with those little pads of paper and pens.

I agree! No way would I stand in that crowd and yes I do think they are too emotionally invested in it but people were the same way with the Casey Anthony trial. I think we all get overly emotionally invested in something every now and then and the power of the media to sway your opinion or get you involved is great. Just look at the wall street protesters as an example
