I've seen some discussion here about other rescues in the contest badmouthing YHR. I hope we all continue to take the high road and don't sink to their level. As the competition nears its end, I don't want it to degenerate into name-calling. It gives all rescues a bad name. If we see anything that seems unfair, perhaps it's best to notify a YHR representative and let them determine the appropriate response. I'm delighted to see that's exactly how our group has behaved so far.

To make it easier to turn the other cheek if the voting gets close, I will make up any difference between the prize we win (or don't win) and the $500 top prize. In other words, if we stay in first, I donate nothing. If we slip to second, I donate $250 ...

I'm not rolling in money, so I REALLY hope we continue to keep our lead, but I think it's more important that we portray YHR as the classy organization it is.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I totally agree. I have complained about it as it is highly frustrating but I don't believe in bashing other rescues. The only ones that hurt are the animals. There are many groups that I might not agree with but they ALL are doing the same thing...saving animals!
This nonsense was just that..nonsense.

I believe they have gotten quite a bit of heat from this....one of them actually wrote to me today. The problem was that she blamed one person for it...when in reality she said worse than what that other person had said. I just told her that I hope they had learned from this experience. Perhaps they are young and/or new at rescue...and just don't know any better. (I am being generous here)

Thank you Mike for your kind and generous gesture...I think we are going to win in spite of it all. Everyone has worked SO hard and played the game in a fun and definitely fair way.

Additionally, I wrote to the man who originally contacted us to let him know that IF we are a problem in that contest (which one of our Board members was told the other day that is not the case), then he could pull us out of it. I offered to donate the $500 if they do pull our group out. I really want this to be clarified. We did not ASK to be a part of this...we were invited. Those people have said we cheated by participating....that is just so wrong and I don't want our group tainted that way. Just want it cleared up. Either pull us out or make a public statement that we were invited. The offenders have removed all of the negative statements as far as I can see...many of them now have closed their pages to the public (of course they did) :rolleyes: Sadly, the damage has already been done. They have put ideas in peoples' heads about us that are just despicable. I personally think they need to apologize in every single place the posted that nonsense, but I won't hold my breath.

Sad thing about all of this is that Parks will probably not want to help rescue again...nothing but a headache. :(

Thanks for the explanation. I've been trying to ignore it, but it's hurtful when you know all the great things YHR and the other rescues do. I hope everyone holds their heads up high as we close out the voting.

It is very hurtful indeed. We are not a huge group and there are a few of us who pay these bills and only pray that we will get it back. To have people act like we are rolling in money is very upsetting. The thing that bothered me the most is that we work so hard to take care of the yorkies and that negative language is so unhealthy. Sad thing is that many people will think YHR is awful because they read those negative things; but we cannot do anything but just keep on doing what we do. It is not the first time sour people have said sour things. Life goes on and we keep on helping yorkies and we keep meeting people who are beyond wonderful! What everyone on this forum has done for the yorkies in our care is amazing! Look at Summer! She is alive and happy and all because of her rescuers...and they include our supporters who pray, shop and donate...all of the love is so touching. We have been blessed to meet SO many wonderful people. Just look at what has happened this month...all of those votes are amazing!!! I never dreamed when this first started that we would actually be at the top of the pack.

Here is what I think. First it is so wonderful that Chevrolet is doing this for rescues! Yeah Chevrolet

But personally if I could I would vote for every bloody rescue on that list! I would like to be able to show my support for more than one rescue!

Maybe each person could get at least three votes to place. For example in the BRT rescue was up there I would personally have had a hard time choosing between my two breeds. I also really really support Greyhound rescues. But WTH I only get one vote...sighhhhh.

I contribute to YHR and totally believe in those folks, but I contribute to BRT and totally believe in those folks (of which I am one..lol).

I didn't read the nasties posted by other folks on the Chevrolet site, but I do know personally how passionate rescue folks can be. How totally dedicated to the cause they are. So I guess I give some slack there. I guess I think is so okay to say, look folks we really really need that money; we are small, we have a critical issue going on, so please vote for us!.
