Missoni for Target
 

Anyone else think this stuff is super fugly? Why the huge following and they made the target site crash!

I thought the McQueen and Zac Posen collections were much better. I've never been a fan of Missoni.

Also they have not just clothes, but housewares and even bikes. That bike is not only sold out, but $399 and made of steel! OMG. Plus it's ugly. One sold on ebay for $1200. Do you know how nice of a bike you can get for that much? OMG OMG. Talk about label wh*res.

I've never heard of Missoni before hearing about the site crash. Maybe I should get out from under my rock more often. :p I thought their tights were interesting. It's about the only place the zigzag pattern is appropriate.

I had never heard of Missoni either. I had to google it when I saw a few comments about it on my FB. IMO the stuff is ugly, no way in the world I would wear it, I would probably be laughed out of my small southern town.:D

I didn't see what everyone was getting all excited about. All of the merchandise reminded me of the 70's - been there, done that...and threw away the t-shirts long ago!

I noticed a lady on Craigslist trying to resell all of her Missoni. It appeared she had bought at least one of everything and was trying to make a profit. It would be interesting to know if she actually sells it for more than she paid. I can't imagine she will be successful, but who knows...I was shocked it sold as well as it did in the first place.

The line for Target is hideous, although I am biased because Missoni is not my style at all. All of the knits and prints, blah. Missoni was featured on an episode of "America's Next Top Model" (don't ask why I watched :p) and I thought the clothes were dreadful.

I totally agree! I actually tried to go online to Target's Website that day and I kept thinking what the HECK is going on!!!

Then I heard about the crash, and I saw what it crashed over and my mouth dropped! It reminds me of my grandmas couch..nope.. I think it's fugly!

I love Missoni, but not on myself...more on others. I think I also love Missoni bc of the history of the design house too, though. I just don't really wear patterns. I always get so excited about the one-time designer collections at Targe, but I've never actually bought anything bc I don't really love what I see. I was super excited for Mulberry's line, and then I saw it and was all 'bleh'. Have you picked up some things you've loved from the past lines?

Well, I bet you could make a fortune with the stuff on Ebay right now. Target can't keep it in stock, it's flying off the shelves:eek: Ugly, though, LOL!!!!

I dont buy things because the label or brand. Never have except when I was in high school and I wore designer label jeans. Now I just buy things I love and they could be from anywhere really. I found a purse at a drugstore for $5 and I loved it because it was very colorful and Ive gotten tons of compliments on it. Im trying to teach my daughter to be the same way so she will be able to spend her money on what she wants rather than on what she has to have to fit in

I was curious when I saw this thread, because years and years ago (I'm old!), I loved Missoni -- back when it was a little pricey (like Nordstrom's) but not ridiculous. So, out of curiousity, I googled it and went to a Neiman Marcus link featuring Missoni and the stuff there is gorgeous!! A single item costs about what I pay for many months' mortgage but still, beautiful. Obviously the line for target doesn't live up to Missoni's normal design standards, but I guess that's not surprising. But the stories of people tearing clothes out of each others' hands - amazing!

Yes absolutely. The Libertine line years ago, and they recently re-released some items. I should have bought another dress bc the size 1 from years ago doesn't fit anymore LOL!

Also the Zac Posen dress like I mentioned. I should have bought that strapless McQueen dress, but at the time I thought $99 was too much. It was a corseted bodice and a lot of work, that was def worth the money, and then he passed away shortly after that. I did also buy the red leather jacket, but it didn't really suit my style and didn't quite fit, so I sold it.

I also got a linen vest and cute shorts from the Patrick Robinson line. Those also don't fit anymore. But I saved those.

I was really looking forward to the Rodarte collection, but it was really cheap looking.

I love the H&M collaborations but I don't ever go to the mall, so I don't have any of those. I really wanted some of the Victor and Rolf stuff but didn't know it even came out until it was too late! LOL

However, I am torn about wearing these pieces, bc everyone will know where I got it. I usually don't wear it for months and months bc I want people to forget about it. I hate it when I see someone else wearing something I have, and it does not happen often, so when it does it makes me feel even more weird.

LMAO! 31k for boots from Target...um...yeah. Think anyone who could afford 31k would prob go to the real Missoni, Hermes, Prada, whatevs? LOL..that's too funny.

I so so so wish I would've bought the McQueen, even if it didn't fit...just for the sake of collecting it :(. Still can't believe he is gone. On the topic of McQ, you prob heard that Daphne Guinness bought all of Isabella Blow's clothes a while back - she is now looking for a place to curate it, so it'll always be on display (ie Parsons, FIT, or Costume Institute). So glad she kept all of Isabella's collection together. Still, so sad.

I had never heard of it either. I went to Target.com and looked. It definitely is not for me, but I could totally see people in my area wearing it. I notice some pretty wild fashion around our home town. Either that or I'm a boring dresser! LOL

Daphne Guinnes is so awesome.

But yeah, I wish I had just one McQueen piece. :(

About the 31k dollar boots. Did you see all the questions people asked her and her responses? That lady is crazy that's for sure! A lot of people were putting their orders from Target onto ebay, and Target was cancelling orders left and right, so a lot of the auctions on ebay are being cancelled. I still can't believe how crazy it got.

The boots. I don't know who the other people are. That lady was actually interviewed by CNN????? Her listing ended, but I can't see if the boots sold.

OMG, another Daphne fan!!!!!!!!! I have always just adored that woman - her style, intelligence, writing, her short film (did you see that?). Don't know if you ever saw her on that Haute Couture documentary (can't be rented, but sometimes can be found on youtube), but she was exactly as one would imagine.

I agree with the white blue eye thing. She sure does love her no heel high heels huh? I did not see her short film I will have to look it up.

I just found out about Missoni when I came across their Stroller collab with Bugaboo.

....IDK I'm not too crazy about it. :( Maybe I don't have an eye for high fashion.:rolleyes:

Very 70's mish-mash Italian Florentine and Indian 70's decor.
Then again I have a best friend who crochets and she loves all colors 70's and mauve, so I'm good with having her whip me something up instead.

I think this is like the Furby craze...much adieu about something that goes out in the blink of an eye because in reality it's trash.
