Give me some books to read! So I had a $20 gift card from my bday to Books-a-Million and I just ordered I have a $25 to Barnes and Noble now. I have read most of Jodi Picoult's books, they are my favorite. I am open to pretty much anything... I mean, I mostly read fiction but I don't mind non-fiction, inspirational-type books either. Or even history-related, etc. So I am pretty open to whatever. Suggestions? |
No suggestions, but I wouldn't mind a good book too. I'll be watching to see what the recommendations are. |
I mostly read English History and literature right now (I know...snorrrrre). But one book I've always loved (kind of a mystery, in a way) is Smilla's Sense of Snow - by Peter Hoag. The female character is super strong and independent. I couldn't put it down. Oh! Have you ever read Seabiscuit (the horse) - one of THE best books! So fascinating. Sea had his own pets who traveled w/ him for races, and they'd cuddle w/ him - I think he had a dog and maybe a favorite goat? It just was a heartwarming book about animals in general - but it especially gave incredible insight into the way Sea's mind worked. |
Not sure if you do romance novels, but I love the suspense/action adventure/with a just a bit of romance squeezed in there. I love Cherry Adair. Her books are wonderful! I've also been reading anything about Yorkies, Housetraining, General Training, Puppies, etc. that I can find but I think it's because we are about to get our dog, but I have enjoyed them. My hubby loves Steve Berry and Dan Brown. |
Did you read The Art of Racing in the Rain? Sooooooo good!!! Written from the dog's perspective. Very sweet and funny and sad. Its a pretty quick read though. Also the 3 Hunger Games books (movies coming out next year) they are really really good books!! There is a series of books by Fern Michaels called the Vegas triology, Vegas heat, Vegas sunrise and Vegas Rich... Ive read them like 3x I just love them so much! |
Have you ever read any of Jen Lancaster's memoirs? They are hysterical and very light, easy reads. I think you'd really like them, though you are a bit younger than me and she is a bit older than me. Hope that made sense. I'd start with Bitter is the New Black and read them in order. Here is her website too: jennsylvania |

And nope, never read Seabiscuit. Just saw the movie. My step-dad is a huge horse person, he owns about 5 race horses so I am sure he'd be interested in it too. Might have to check it out. :D Quote:

You could check with Barnes & Noble or your local book store to find out what's on the best seller list right now. I am reading THE HELP. I'm on the last chapter. I saw the movie and just had to buy the book. A real eye opener. I am also reading RELIGIOUS LITERACY by Stephen Prothero. (also a New York Times Bestseller) The Washington Post wrote: "Provocative and timely...combines a lively history of the rise and fall of American religious literacy with a set of proposed remedies". |
Ever heard of this series called Twilight? LOL :) ;) just kidding I just finished The Help and loved it. Mostly, my bed time reading is books about breastfeeding...so sorry I 'm not much help. |
Fields of Fire by James Webb A Rumor of War by Phil Caputo On Combat by D. Grossman Got Some on the Hill by Steve Anzalone (coming Soon) |

I loved Pillars of the Earth(long book), Memoirs of a Geisha, and I read a lot of Paranormal romance. I belong to an online book club. That helps with feedback and choices. |
"Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project" by Jack Mayer |
