Man set to die on Sept 21 Please take a moment to read the story, and if it moves you please sign the petition. If not then, thank you for taking the time to read it. I've been following this case for the past 3 years and (to me) it's heartbreaking. Thank you Criminal Justice Petition: State of Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: Grant clemency to my brother, Troy Davis | Change.org |
i signed and forwarded |
Thank you, every signature helps. |
Signed and posted to my Facebook. This is just so wrong, that the police can coerce people in our country. Horrible:( I pray that this man can be saved in time, but don't have much hope, really. Not the way our "justice" system works. The death penalty is NOT reversible! |
Sad :( This reminds me of The Green Mile movie a bit. I have iffy feelings on the death penalty for reasons like this. |
What was his crime, what was he convicted of? |
Signed :) I am also curious what he was convicted for...gosh it was disturbing how police bully people to do stuff  |
What was the crime? I can't believe he sits in prison for 20 years, yet Casey Anthony is free. |
I signed. Unbelievable that they'd consider going forward with this when there's so much evidence of corruption in the trial. |

The weapon was never found. However, since then I believe 6 of the 7 witnesses have recanted their testimony. Some have indicated that the police stated that if they did not implicate Troy Davis then they will go down as an accomplice. Another witness was asked to sign a testimony provided to them, although the witness later admitted to being illiterate so he had no idea what he was agreeing/signing. The last witness who has yet to recant his testimony is according to several of the witnesses, the true gunman-- who were at the time afraid to come forward. While DNA evidence is not necessary to convict someone of murder (the weapon was never found) the circumstantial evidence of this case (i.e., witness testimony) has fallen apart. Time and time again Troy Davis has asked for a new evidence hearing so that the new found evidence (i.e., witnesses asserting that police coercion took place) can be brought for possibility of a new trial, however I think last time I heard the judge ruled that there was no evidence of police coercion so they denied his request. Apart from national attention to this death penalty case, the international community has also pleaded that Georgia not sentence this man to death. Many of the European powers have admonished Georgia for keeping this man on death row. Although, I cannot know for certain if he is guilty or not, all I know is that people have been set free (i.e., Casey Anthony) on much more solid (in my opinion) circumstantial evidence. |
Thanks for the info. That is so ridiculous. And people wonder why so many fear the police. |
Thank you everyone for the support. I'm bumping this just in case more people might come across this. I hope I'm not breaking any YT rules. |
very interesting story. i feel sorry for him if he really is innocent which it does sound like he is. why when he had the chance to stand and give testimony and call witnesses did the defense not seem to do anything to help him win? also has anyone ever suggested who really did kill the officer because though i don't believe Davis should be put to death if he's innocent i also feel sorry for the family of the officer and his little ones and know that they want justice served to someone. preferably the actual killer not someone that cannot be proven to do anything. don't fear the police. my FIL and BIL are Chicago PD and my FIL now a local sergeant and they are wonderful people. not all policemen and women are there for the wrong reasons and in face most are there for very good reasons. i would seek the death penalty on anyone that killed one of them and sometimes when blinded by grief you don't see through a case to the honest truth, you just seek justice and pain back on the family of the supposed killer, even when he may not be the actual killer. i hope that makes sense, i'm playing devil's advocate because all in all a police officer gave his life to serve and protect and was killed. justice must be done, i just hope they make sure it's done to the REAL murderer. |
