Seems most of the southern states are not too happy. Probably because unemployment is so high. Hard to beleive ND. came in second. |
It seems like northern states fare pretty well. I wonder where Alaska would rank if Mike didn't live there. :p |
it kinda cracks me up that Missouri (misery) is one of the bottom depressing states but IA and NE and KS our biggest rivals in football are all so darn happy!! I'd say as a MO all my life that I'm a pretty happy go lucky state of mind and KS got nothing on us!! Those hours of driving through fields are enough to make me go nuts...KS is BORING zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :p |

but i like you!! |
That was interesting thanks for sharing! |
I'm actually shocked MD made the 'happy' list... lol. People around here never seem very happy or nice to me. |
I think HI comes up on top every year. |
Who can possibly be unhappy in Hawaii? Seriously?! |
The only thing I can think of is everything is more expensive there bc it has to be shipped in, but if I lived there, what would I care! It's HI dang it. |

If I was there....i'd be nice to you :D :wavey: Quote:
That is the down side. Things can get pricey. But where else can you go straight from work or school and go to the beach. A lot of people here also go to the beach before work/school. LOL The only thing I miss about the mainland is that you can drive for days and enjoy the seasons. It's always spring/summer here and you can go around the whole island in a matter of a couple hours. :D |
How can you not be happy in Hawaii? :D But being from the #2 most depressed state (Kentucky), I wonder why I still feel happy every day? Amazing - Ha. As MauiGirl has stated in the past, being happy is a state of mind, not a state. Wasn't that a smart thing to say? |
Oh my gosh, how could Hawaii not be the happiest state!!!! Its paradise!!!!! Its the most beautiful place Ive ever been to in my life! My BF & I are talking about how we are going to get back there, hes never been, and I want to go back soooo badly! My mom is going in Oct and I was going ON & ON about how amazing, beautiful and awesome Hawaii is! I'm so excited for her! |
Can anyone tell me where NH ranked? I can't see the slide show because they won't install flash player on my work computer!!! GGRRRR |

We have the happiest city in the US right here in CA. about 50 miles from me. :D Happiest City in America: San Luis Obispo - Video - Oprah.com |
Being originally from AL, I hated to see them on the non-happy list. Every single person I know from Alabama is always so happy and cheerful. And everyone is so nice, courteous, well mannered when you go out in public. It's a complete different story in PA. Most people we come into contact with here are just downright rude and ugly, no manners at all. Even our neighbors are not all that friendly. But with the unemployment as high as it is in AL, I can understand why some people might be unhappy. But again, I love AL. It is my home state and a wonderful place. There is so much to do, especially with all the rivers, lakes, etc. I hope these sad people in AL will find something to smile about! Believe me, I know from experience....you may think Alabama is too quiet and boring at times but once you move 13 hours away, you will miss it like crazy! LOL. |

It is no wonder TN made the depressed list with high unemployment and increased drug use. |
Well, I love Texas, Texans like to party Big. We also have the Beaches and Mountains. Oh I almost forgot, we have REAL Cowboys who still wear Chaps. :D |
