Dentist? For the second time, my stupid crown has came out! :( About a year ago, they glued it back in my mouth but it came out again today. Does this happen with crowns? Does any one work for a dentist and know? My DH is wanting me to go to a different dentist. But I don't want to! :(:( |
I don't have any crowns, but my father has many and my brother has 2 on his front teeth that he has had since he was a kid. They have never fallen out. Sounds like it is time for a new dentist. |
I have crowns and they do not fall out. Temporary crowns will but not permanent ones. Why dont you want a new dentist. that one may not be a good one if the crown falls out??? i love the dentist i go to, he is the Best!!! i have been to some awful dentists so it really makes a difference when you have a good one. and i have dental insurance but its not good insurance so it only pays for me to go to an approved dentist and i think those ones are crummy dentists so i pay the total costs to go to the dentist i like. its so expensive but worth it to go to the best |
I have several crowns and they have never fallen off except one of the temporary crowns when I was eating Hot Tamales candy. My son has 4 on his front teeth and for what we paid they better not fall off. I hate dentist anyway but I keep the one I have because he knows us and is pretty good. Everytime we go for a procedure he calls that night to check on us. |
I have dentist issues. I absolutely hate going. I just switched to this one. He did not put the crown on originally. I was going to a female that put the crown on. When it came out I switched to the dentist I have now. So, I don't really think it is his fault. Yet I don't understand why it has come out twice now. Gee, if it is going to happen it happens to me! |
Maybe something has changed with your mouth or the tooth it was on. I had several old ones that had to be removed and new ones put on because I grind my teeth and they had been in there forever. |

Oh geez! They are very expensive!! And that is with my insurance paying!:eek: |
The dentists should stand behind their work, and it shouldn't cost you a cent to get that crown put in properly. Or replaced would be better. Good luck to you:) I hate dental stuff, ugh!!!! |
I had a crown that came out twice. It was several years ago and I switched dentists. Come to find out the original dentist didn't finish the root canal in the tooth the crown was on and it also didn't fit properly. I had to have the root canal re-done and a new crown. Needless to say I would never recommend the original dentist, root canals are painful and crowns aren't cheap. Luckily my insurance paid half on the new crown, since my new dentist could show proof that the first dentist did a shoddy job. |
:o I have 7 crowns. Yeah, I have terrible teeth. Every once in a while one will come loose. My dentist tells me they should stay glued in place for 7 to 10 years, but I have some that have come loose sooner and some that have never come loose and I can always tell when one is about to come loose. Unfortunately carmel is one of my favorite candies, and also the most forbidden for crowns, lol. It'll pull one loose every time. So if you eat a lot of taffy, carmel or that kind of food, it will pull one loose real easy. Otherwise, you may want to find another dentist to make sure it was properly fit in the first place. |
The dentist I see now is not the original dentist. I no longer see the original one. He just glued it back on last time. I did get it put back on only to find out it is the way my crown was made. Apparently, it has more of an angle than it should. :( Go figure my luck. He used a different type of cement and said lets see what happens. The only other option is to redo the crown. Which is expensive even with insurance. So, hoping it will stay in better this time. |
