True, but if this “Brain Eating Amoeba” is really prevalent, it sure would explain a lot of things! :D

You're right, this is a small contraction rate; however, if you're one of the 32 (or 121) it's not small enough.

It is gross and sad, but I try not to live in fear over these kinds of things. There is always something: H1N1, Avian flu, west nile, etc. Or less serious - the cockroach egg that can get embedded in a tongue when licking an envelope, the poisonous spiders that can come up through toilets and, um, bite you, etc.

I'm trying not to think about this one. I get water in my nose during showers. I occasionally swim in lakes. My dogs are allowed to play in the lake. I mean realistically for us, this is Michigan and all things lake are a way of life here. Gotta love that we flush our potty waste into our water supply and swim in it too. Sigh.

My mom heard this one while working at a doctor's office. Not sure if it has happened more than that once.. She is forever trying to get me to wet them with my finger or a sponge, but I don't like to waste time on boring chores, so I still lick 'em.

This is just like what my mom told me about some cockamamie story about bugs or something in wooden throw away chopsticks. She carries her own pair of collapsible metal chopsticks in her purse. I would think bacteria or not washing them after using them would be grosser. She just wipes them down and puts them back in her purse. :rolleyes: I think it's just a chinese urban legend to get people to buy collapsible chopsticks.

Oh, what was that show that used to come on...something about Urban Legends? I can't remember, but I saw this on their along with the lady who had the spider eggs to hatch in her bouffant hair, oh and the couple who returned to their honeymoon getaway motel and found themselves on one of the channels having sex from thier previous visit.

I can't remember which ones where facts or fiction. Fact or Fiction, maybe that was the name of the show.:confused:

Just found out West Nile has hit my county. Now this freaks me out. I get bit up so easily (13 bites on one part of my arm in like a day...). Isn't this peachy.

Oh holy crap! :eek: When I get bit by mosquitoes I swell up big time! One tiny bite swells up and it's irregular shaped, not circle, and gets about the size of one of those smashed souvenir pennies you get at Disneyland.
