My dad battles it every day, too. So did my grandpa. He's never had melanoma but he's had the others, including the kind that turns into a horn like protrusion from the skin EWW. My dad had a large part of his ear and cartilage removed as well and you can't tell he had surgery. I was impressed.

Thanks for sharing your story. I will go to the docs office with lots of reading materials and thanks for the advice. Were they able to get all of yours the first time, or did you go back after they checked the slides?

So sorry for your dad. It does make you wonder if there is something genetic in all of this.

My DH had a BCC removed on the top of his head with the MOHS procedure. They were fortunately able to remove it all with the first cut . . .but he was there for over 3 hours as an outpatient.

DH also had a BCC removed from the side of his neck a few years ago as a procedure in the dermatologist office.

DH is fair skinned, light eyes and did work outside alot and needs to remember to wear sunscreen. His parents also had the same skin cancer issues. I think it is hereditary, especially for fair skinned people.
