Time Capsule :D So my SIL is making a time capsule for my niece's 1 year old bday party, and she will open it at her 16th bday! What the heck do I put in there? Here is what I have so far. A little photo album of me, her and DH when she was born to the time now. My Mom is going to open her a savings account so DH and I were going to put some money in there as well, but I havent told my Mom about that yet, So I dunno what she will think.. Help I need some more ideas! Please :p |
How about a copy of your local newspaper for that day, a list of what everyday items cost. Maybe make a DVD if you have video footage of her first year. |
Hmp, I dont have a video camera. I like the newspaper idea!! Thats neat. I was also thinking of putting some stuff that 16 year olds are into, like those silly band things.. Maybe some Hello kitty stuff!! :D |
I thought of the newspaper too! What about product boxes/labels/etc? I know things like Coke and Pepsi looked soooo different when I was born compared to when I was a teen! |
How about some photos of her neighborhood or local landmarks? A lot of things change - stores, landscapes, etc. It might be fun to see everything that has changed in 15 years. I like the newspaper idea too. How about receipts - just to show what stuff costs and/or the store name. |
Maybe list the top grossing movies of the year or C.D.'s at the top of the Billboard chart. I bet if you took pics of newer T.V.'s, computers, game consoles & cell phones they will all look completely different in 15 years. |
What about something like a magazine with articles about all our new cutting edge technology? Lol |
What about suggesting that each of you (her family) write her a letter telling her how much she is loved, how special she is, and your hopes and dreams for her and her life as she grows older. Sorry, I think it's the sappy pregnant hormones coming on full force. I love everyone else's ideas too. I think making her a time capsule is a great idea and I'm sure she'll be amazed in 15 years! |
I made a time capsule on Jan. 1, 2000. It is to be opened on Jan 1, 1025. I put newspapers, Time magazine, People magazine, a Barbie doll, I wrote a letter to each one of my kids. I included photos of us together that year, pictures of the front of the house, pictures of our car, and other things I just can't think of right now. I put everything on a tote and taped it all up so it doesn't open and I put it in the attic. That is a very nice idea to open it on her 16th birthday. Very sweet! |
Thanks guys! U all have some good ideas!! I love the sweet letter idea!! I think I am going to do that one for sure!! |
