hubby to er this morning. Dh got up and started to leave for work this morning then realized he had jury duty. Came back in and started to change clothes (he wears steel toe boots for work) and he sd he felt dizzy. Sd felt like his ears were underwater and could not hear for a few seconds. He felt like he was going to fall to the floor. He rested while i watched and sd felt better. He started to finish getting ready and sd it happened again and he started sweating. He agreed to go to the ER. They sd his bp dropped very low. He has recently lost 60 lbs and had not had the dosage on his bp meds changed. Makes sense. Was told to go to his reg dr tomorrow to get it changed. After getting home, he went to the bathroom and sd his stools (sorry) was black. I think he maybe bleeding inside. It would explain the bp drop, weight loss (he has been trying to loose weight with diet changes) and dizziness. I am so scared. I told him if he has another episode, back to er. Have dtr on standby just in case she is needed. Any thoughts? |
If stools are black, I would call the dr right away and not wait for another BM episode, especially w the low BP and fainting feeling. Do you have a family dr you regularly deal w? If not, I would definitely call the ER back right away for further instruction. |
I agree I would call his regular doctor ad explain what happened and the black stools. He may want to do some testing ASAP. It could be something minor but it could be he has some internal bleeding and needs immediate treatment. Did they do any blood work to see if he was anemic? That could be another sign of internal bleeding. I hope everything is ok and your husband feels better soon. |
I would definitely call your doctor or the er. something is definitely off kilter and better to catch it asap. Hope you can find out what is going on with him. |
I told jim i was going to call the er or his dr. He sd no matter what they sd he was not going back to the er tonight. I told him if another episode, he will not have a choice. Since he is bigger than me, there is not way to force him to go. :( For him to tell me to take him to the er this morning is so shocking. He hates hospitals. This is actually the 2nd time this month. a couple of weeks ago he got into some noxious fumes at work and it messed up his breathing and he has asthma. After 24 hrs breathing no better and he agreed to go. Both episodes shocked all of us. I love my husband but sometimes I just want to knock him upside the head. He says he is feeling better but still weak. I told him if dr says tests, and i think she will order a colonoscopy at least, he will have it done. |
oh... Please get him to doc. They need to rule out any major problems. It could even be something related to the fumes he was exposed to. I can tell you from experience, I know it is hard to get the block heads to go to doctor but I rather be wrong in over reacting than underacting if it is serious Please keep us posted |
