Question about Paypal.............. Has anyone reached their maximum $5,000.00 spending limit with paypal? They want me to give them my bank account # and I think that is totally wrong. Have any of you done that? |
That is crazy. |
They want you to give it to them, but it is your account and you don't have to give it to anyone. I never did. |
Donna, I'm not sure about the $5,000 spending limit, but I upgraded my account to a Premier account years ago. I opened a seperate bank account in a different bank that the family uses so that the two accounts couldn't be linked. I have had great luck using paypal and feel as comfortable as one can using the www. to do business. I have a feeling that the "spending limit" is part of the new IRS laws that our DPO :yeahthat: blessed us with. In this particular case the "D" does NOT stand for dear! |
How is your account set up, do you use cash or do you pay with a credit card? I have a credit card on the account and I didn't think there is a limit. |
I can't buy a thing using paypal because they say I have reached my spending limit and I need to give them my bank account #. They said they would deposit something in my account first just to see if it's a valid account. I will never give them my account #. Cindy, did you open a new account just to give them? Did this happen to you to? |

Yes, I did open a separate account just for Paypal. I upgraded my account because ??? hummmm it's been so long ago I forgot. I would never give them an account # that is active for more than just paypal. It's easy to open an account and them make deposits into that account as needed for "spending $$". If you go this route REMEMBER - the new account needs to be a completely separate bank from any accounts that you use for your personal business -- |

Paypal actually has a Customer Service that cares. The few times that I have called them I have had knowledgeable and courteous CS Reps assist me. |

Did you get this notice when you logged in to paypal or was it sent in an email? The reason I am asking, I received an email like this about 4 months ago and it was actually in my junk email. I was in a panic because I knew I had not spent that much total in the years that I have had paypal. I noticed something looked funny about the senders email address and felt something just wasn't right. If you already have a paypal account they have your account number already. I work in a bank and have dealt with phishing scams related to our customers and was afraid this is what was happening to me. It is a big scam that affects the banking industry also. You will get an email that looks like it comes from the bank or another reputable company and they will ask for your account number...never give this out to anyone!! The scammers also do this by phone. If someone calls and says they are from your bank, credit card company etc and they need you to verify your bank account or credit card number it is a scam. Please contact paypal and let them know about this. It may be a scam and they need to be aware of it if it is. |

Donna, before you cancel call Paypal to confirm what is going on. Unless I'm dead wrong, you can STILL use the same CC -- they just want a bank account ## for their record. |

If PayPal sends a email they will use your full name. Quick easy way to spot a phisher/spammer. |
I never order anything online. I would prefer to get the telephone number and just call the company and order. It may be the same in alot of ways but just feel more comfortable. We never use credit cards except for gas etc. which is paid off at the end of the month. I used paypal for ordering bows from Bizbows and got a e-mail saying a second party was trying to use my account. THis was the 2nd time I had use paypal in years. I called my credit card company and had my card number changed. Will never use paypal again. Whatever you do don't give anyone your account number. Does anyone know if you can call bizbow and order directly from her. Love her bows but had rather order directly from her and never seen a phone number listed. It just pays to be really careful. I have gone through indentify theft and its not fun. So be careful. |

Oh, I'm sorry. It is Bowbiz. For some reason I want to always call it BizBow. Sorry Susan. I think its called oldhimmers. lol!!! |
Yes! I stopped using my Paypal account to pay for things. You can still pay with a credit card number and just chose not to log into your account. When I have to send money, I just use my fiance's Paypal account. The whole thing makes me angry since obviously you've been good for the entire spending limit without issues, so why do they think you want to give them your checking account number or open a paypal credit card. Yeah, no thanks! If you are comfortable giving them your checking account number, that is all that is required to "verify" your account, and you will be able to continue using your credit card of choice. I just didn't want them to have access to my checking account. |
