Why are maternity clothes so expensive. Today, ordered 2 pairs of bermuda shorts and one top...80 bucks!:eek:

It makes as much sense as baby formula & diapers being priced through the roof.:rolleyes:
I've seen some really cute maternity clothes in passing at Target, I hope they wouldn't be that expensive but who knows.

And congrats on needing some.:)

Omg!! I am glad I had my last kid 26 years ago!! I couldn't afford to be pregnant now, but back then maternity clothes were so ugly too.

I think its a hype! I just bought elastic waisted larger pants and larger and stretchy shirts.

Got em cheap at Fallas Paredes, Susie's Deals, the swapmeet, etc

I did buy some maternity dresses in mint condition at the Goodwill for cheap.

There is NO reason to spend an arm and leg on clothes you will use for a little bit.

Also, check craigslist and for yard sale listings. Smart shop ;)

I did the same thing. If it had the word maternity on it then the price doubled. So, I bought larger sizes in elastic pants and big shirts. Have you thought about looking into a second hand store? You might be able to find good prices on them.

Check out the consignment shops in your area, womens clothing and baby shops.There are also a lot of them on line........ Let someone else pay the full price......;)

I was not able to find any shorts at the Target's I looked at. The tops and pants were pretty pricey too though. I guess they think that growing belly's mean growing bank accounts:confused::rolleyes:

I bet they were not! Today, I have trouble finding clothes that cover me up. I am not into showing my naked belly, shirts with backs out of them, or the low cut ones that let the girls hang out. Everything is so "young" looking, or maybe I am just old.:rolleyes: I was suprised at how many teen-looking girls I saw in the Motherhood store though. I guess stylist are focusing on the baby's having baby's generation.

It's ridiculous isn't it!?!

Luckily, even at 8 months, I can still fit into some of my "normal" clothes. Empire waist dresses are the best. For work, where I have to wear pants- I was lucky to find some at the baby consignment store for around $8 each. They had some cute tops too, but for work I have to wear my work polo, so I just bought a few in one size up. I've seen some things in nice condition at the secondhand stores (goodwill, salvation army, etc) for a decent price too.

Wow, lucky you. I am between 4 and 5 months and out of my bottoms. I can get them on but feel like I am being cut into.:eek: Way to uncomfortable. I am able to still wear some of my tops and most of my t-shirts, they are just getting tighter.

A baby consignment store sounds neat, I will have to check to see if there is one near me.

You must all be first time moms.

With the first baby, you buy maternity clothes.

With the second, you wear your husband's sweats.

With the third, maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes :D

My mom and aunt bought me some maternity clothes yesterday at motherhood maternity and the spent $100 for 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of capris, and 3 shirts. I did browse through overstock.com maternity section and they have some decent prices and especially on clearance stuff.

Oh, besides PJ pants I didn't fit into my normal pants much passed 5 months. Mainly dresses and tshirts and what I still fit in to- though the tshirts won't be for much longer.
