HELP! sunburn remedies I know- don't sit in the sun, you will be a wrinkled old woman, blah, blah. My mother already gave me a lecture about the sun when I stopped in to pick up the dogs. I LOVE the sun, I sat in it at the beach all day- now I am a LOBSTER and it HURTS  I took a cold shower, I covered myself in lotion, I put loose clothes on- It still hurts BAD! I MIGHT have finally learned my lesson- but in the meantime- someone help with a really good remedy. Pretty PLEASE? :( |
Ouch! Pure aloe. That is what an MLB baseball trainer gave me when I burned my shoulders sitting in the bleachers for a game. Hope you feel better soon. |

I use Aloe with Lidocaine....cools the skins and helps with the pain. |

A few years back I got fried with patches of blisters, it was horrible. The best advice I finally got was to put good normal lotion on it, like lubriderm, eucerin, etc. I was burnt so bad some of my nerve endings had to actually grow back together & the pharmacist said the best help is to keep it super moisturized. Be careful if you buy the burn sprays as some have alcohol which will only worsen it. I agree, the lidocaine/aloe mixes are the best for pain relief & to sleep or do something vigorous I'd take some ibuprofen. I'm not a doc of course.;) |
My dad is a builder and in the sun all day. He had one worker who was married to an Indian. She said use plain yogurt. Don't know if it really works or not! :D |
Colloidal oatmeal baths work wonders. You can either by the Aveeno version or you can blend plain oatmeal in a food processor until it's like flour. Add about a cup to your bath, you can also add powdered milk. My grandmother used to swear white vinegar would take the sting out, too. Add a bit to the bath, it will sting when you first get in but it really does seem to work. |
Cut a tomato in half and rub that on. |
I think pure aloe is still the best. If you have access to a plant, break off a stem and rub it all over yourself. ahhh soothing! |
My son got a bad sunburn last week. He never burns, he is dark olive complexion but this time he did. I got him a jar of Noxzema and that helped him. Also he put Lubriderm on when he went to work (so he didn't have the Noxzema smell). Feel better!!! |
I get burned easily. Very pale skin. I like the aloe, but when I do not have any i have used vinegar. I wet a washcloth with water and some vinegar. It may hurt at first but it really takes the heat out of it. Pls be careful in the sun. A coworker just last week went tubing and forgot to put sunscreen from his knees to ankles. He got so burned he had to go to the er. His burns were so bad they had to scrape the skin off. I think it is called debridement. He sd it was the worst pain he has ever experienced. No numbing of legs at all. He sd he has learned to always use sunscreen. |
