Yellowstone Nat'l Park - Anyone been there? The dh and I are buying an RV so the 3 of us (Betty Boop makes 3!) can take a road trip. We are going to start taking vacations this way so we will not have to ever leave the Boop behind with strangers. I need some tips on Yellowstone. Neither of us has been there before. I hear it gets super crowded in the summer. Does it get hot?? Maybe the best time of year to go is in September when school resumes??? Please.......any tips are appreciated. Anywhere else you could suggest would be great, too. |
Don't feed the bears. :p Sorry I don't have any other tips because I have not had the pleasure of visiting since I was really little. You are going to enjoy it. |
Been years since I was there. Yes, it can get hot in the Summer, and after the Summer Break is a good time to go. You can also head to the Grand Canyon, Area 51, Wine Country in Ca, and lets not forget my favorite city in TX to hunt WIld Hogs, Corsicana. You have lots to see and do just in TX, New Mexico, AZ, and Ca. |

I actually thought we could just come to Illinois and park in front of your house. Kind of like in Chevy Chase's movie where his goofy relative parks in front of his house. I always wanted to do that to somebody! lol |

I went when I was in my teens and it was AWESOME. WE went in spring and we were wearing coats. My favorite part was the mudpots and Prismatic Springs. Im a total geology loving freak and just thought it was the coolest place on earth. So much going on there and the wildlife is amazing too. Buffalo, elk and moose are everywhere. We saw a river otter, a few coyotes, a wolf, 2 grizzly bears and a black bear! Make sure to check out the Grand Tetons too, its just north of there. |
On that roadtrip (we were coming from Texas too) we went to a total of 9 national parks. Off the top of my head some of the best ones were Zion national park, grand canyon is a must see and we went to Arches National park which was really neat too so you may want to look up those. |
I went about 5 years ago. It was in May and it was COLD and it snowed. I think the weather is very changeable there, but yes, it will be hot in the summer. I have heard that you need reservations about a year in advance to get an RV spot in the park. I know we had to reserve our cabins way in advance. It is absolutely spectacular and you will certainly enjoy it. The Yellowstone website tells you almost everything you need to know. You can also stay in some of the little towns around Yellowstone, there aren't a lot of them, and spots fill up fast there too. |
Yellowstone is an awesome place to visit, we were there a few years ago and had a great time. Just remember that dogs are not allowed in alot of the places in most of the National Parks. |

The website will tell you about dogs in the park. They can be in the park, but not in some areas, if I remember correctly. |
The paths through the hot pools and geysers are not very pet friendly and would be dangerous for your babies. Be very careful as they are VERY hot. Dogs are not permitted in most areas as I recall so be sure to check about that. There are some small towns around the park where you can find a parking spot. Absolutely, don't fool with the bears!! |
