kindle users: q's pls answer if possible I am seriously thinking about getting one since I found out I can get free books in the genre I like on amazon.com. I have a few q's for anyone who has one. 1. There is one for 139 or i can get one 25 $ less if i allow "special offers". dh sd to pay the extra 25, that i would hate the commercials. Anyone have the one with the offers and if so how bad are they? Do they get annoying or in the way. 2. Is it worth it? I am an avid book reader. I sometimes read a harlequin romance in a couple of hrs. I get them at the used book store for .80 each. I wind up spending about $ 20 at the book store every 2 wks. I can not afford books at like borders and such. Newer books are a lot more even in the used books store. 3. I read mostly in bed at night with a lamp behind me. would it be easy to read in this situation? Overall opinions: I have decided it would be the kindle over the competition. want to order asap. Thanks! |
Definitely worth it. But if you want to read in bed you will need to get the pricey lighted cover. I have it and love it. I have the 3g/WiFi and love it. We go camping and I can't get wifi in the boonies but the 3G works great. If you don't need 3G I agree with your hubby and spend the extra $25. |
I just ordered the $139. Kindle the other day. I didn't want the $114 one because I didn't want to see ads, even though they say it wouldn't interfere with the reading. I should get it maybe the end of this week because I chose free shipping. My next door neighbor got one last year and she loves it. Happy Reading!!:) |
I got one for my birthday; my son said it was the middle priced one and I believe it was $139. I did spring for the pricey cover with the light. I haven't needed to use it much but I sure do love the Kindle! If you read a lot and read fast; you'll probably like it too. Online books are cheaper than paperbacks; at least so far. And Amazon also has some free books; I just finished reading one that I downloaded. |
thanks all. i will ordering tonight more than likely. leaning toward spending the extra 25 though i read on cnet where they sd to save the 25 in their opinion. sd the offers such as $ 20 gift cert for 10 was worth it. i hate making decisions. On one hand i have some time i can ck it out with the offers and send back if i do not like it, on the other it would be a hassle. oh well.... thanks again for input. |
I know I am late.. but I use my IPHONE with the Kindle app.... love it!!! |
i have one// absolutely love it |
I love it! Our power has been off from 8 pm Tuesday to 12:08 this morning (thursday) from storms. I was able to read. I had gotten the lighted cover with 50% off due to one of the ads on it. When hubby was at hosp, it was great to carry it to read. |
