I have moles in my backyard!!! Anyone know how to get rid of moles??? I see all their trails in my backyard. The ground is soft and mushy. I know my dad used to just walk on the trails and push them down. I don't know what I would do if I actually see one  |
Moles are attracted to grubs. If you treat your lawn for grubs, then the moles will go away . . .:) |
Is ther a safe way to treat for grubs? My babies go out there!! |
I don't think so, that's the hard part. I know that when DH fertilizes before the rain comes, the dogs cannot go on the grass at all until the fertilizer gets soaked in. We have a patio area that they use during that time and wee pads inside. Grubs are nasty beetle larvae and last year when Rhianna was running through our lawn they were all attached to her underside of her hair . .it was NASTY pulling off all those little worms  |
Well I haven't seen any of those around. Hmmm. I wonder if those sonic things work thsat you stick in the ground!! |
12 Guage Mossberg Shotbun and some #4 shot. Get a nice comfortable chairn put a hat on, a nice beverage, and sit and wait until you see one. The rest will get the message. |

We have major mole issues. There is only 1 true way to get rid of them. .. cut off their food supply, which is grubs. You need to have grub control put on the lawn. But this is not immediate, it could take until next summer before they are gone. My boyfriend's friend is a contractor and he told me that fruit flavored gum just broken up and thrown on the ground may kill them. He think they eat it and choke on it. But he was not sure how effective this really is. Ive been stomping down mole trails for years... this year we've finally got the funds to get the yard treated by a company who will get rid of the grubs. wooohooo We have a lot of damage control to do now! |
We use a company called Tru Green, they did say 24 hours before the pets or kids should go on the lawn. We don't treat the backyard so the dogs can go out there still. I have never seen a mole. No matter how many trails Ive stomped on, I never saw one. BF thinks he got the one in the backyard, there are no new trails for awhile now. woohoo |

Ha ha mine either they would clear the yard fast |
Let me send Ringo over! See his superior digging skills in my Avatar? No mole can escape THAT. Of course, your yard won't survive either, but that's a different story. |
Don't use sugarless gum... most contain Xylitol...very toxic to dogs. There is a natural treatment for grubs: Organic Lawn Pest Control: Milky Spores and Nematodes | DoItYourself.com Milky Spore and Nematodes. May take up to 2 seasons to work, but lasts for years. My lawn is on year 4 or 5, and I used to find grubs everywhere. Haven't seen one for a year or two. And no moles or voles. Just sprinle it on the lawn and water in or wait for rain. |
Forgot to add it's pet safe! |
Thank you for your suggestion. I haven't seen any grubs at all, but that doesn't mean they are not there. |

Khloe actually killed a blind mole in our back yard. I wouldn't pick it up because it resembles a rat, and I begged the hubby to but he got side tracked from doing it. Then Khloe went outside and rolled around on it and smelled horrible when she came back in. So I'd say you could let your little furbabies take care of them; they'll do a fine job. (: |

Now I did not mean to use the shotgun on the Pits, but on the owners. Personally, I believe Pits that come from good breeding, and with responsible owners are great dogs. Many that have Pits should not be allowed to own them. Any dog can bite, some just can do more damage. I knew this when I got a Cane Corso, and like Pits, they are getting an unfair rap because some idiots are using them to fight. Again, breeding, training, socialization, and the owners. |
Ew... GROSS  I just went out there to stomp on the mole trails and there was a dead field mouse!! Gross!! I picked it up with a shovel, and now I'm creeped out!!! Can't even enjoy my backyard without being grossed out. :( Oh believe me if I had a shotgun (or even knew how to use one:rolleyes:) I would be out there. hehe |
