Jeep Liberty VS Jeep Patriot I am thinking of getting a new car. I really want a Jeep Liberty but the gas mileage isnt as good and the price is more. Who has either of these, 2011. What are your opinions and experience? |
I have no experience with the Liberty but I own a 2010 Jeep Patriot. I LOVE my Jeep sooo much. I was in a bad accident last year with my '09 Patriot where it was totaled but it did me good in the accident -- I think it would have been a lot worse had I been in my old car. I like it because it's still an SUV but it's really like driving a car. Now, I don't have the four wheel drive one, if you can afford it, I'd suggest it. However, my Patriot did great in the snow and we had lots of it last winter. Between my moms Infiniti and my Jeep (both not four wheel drive) mine was the only one we could get out. It's a great "dog car" too. The seats fold down, one of them goes down individually. Jackson's Snoozer sits perfect in the back seat or I could fold the whole back down. But it's spacious and can comfortably fit 5 people (driver, and 4 passengers). My back/trunk area, whatever you want to call it, is great and can pack a lot in. I have a small tank on mine -- it's only like a 13 gallon tank. So it doesn't last me a really long time but I don't have too much of an issue with it. Usually I'd pay about $28-$30 to fill it up but lately due to prices I'm spending about $40. Ugh. Oh, I also got the one with automatic windows. Some of them actually have roll-up windows, can you believe it? LOL. I almost got tricked -- it's cheaper that way but I couldn't have lived with roll up windows. I also have a sun roof which is GREAT! My speakers stereo system is also fabulous. No complaints there. |
I looked at pics of the 2 and I think I would like the shorter front on the patriot. Just my opinion. I am a huge fan of wranglers though. I want my jeep to look like a jeep. I have a 91 jeep wrangler yj. Would love to be able to afford a 2011. Not at all in the budget, unless I wait another 15 yrs. LOL |
You want rugged, get a Liberty with 4 wheel drive and a low gear. It sucks up more gas and costs a bit more. You want better mileage and AWD, with a softer ride, get the Patriot. Others to compare are the Honda CR-V and Subaru Forrestor. For Dogs, you can't beat the Honda Element. |

I heard they are discontinuing the Element -- so sad. :( I wanted one someday. Oh and you actually can get a 4WD Patriot, it just costs more. But mine is definitely a very soft ride, as you said. Other people who have driven always love the way it drives. I like the Wranglers but I'd never have one as my #1 vehicle. I consider them "fun cars" hehe... they are run to go to the beach in and stuff but I find them all to be an uncomfortable ride and very bouncy and bumpy. Plus they flip so easy I've heard, it would scare me. |

I ended up picking the Jeep Patriot 4x4 with the trail rated off road package. I pick it up Saturday. It is so exciting. I hope it is everything it seems to be.;) |
Yay! Let us know how you like it! |
