It is not just you. |
Not much I like out there either, and almost nothing worth spending money on. |
I'm with you. Though I admit -- I am infected with the Bieber fever! :) Yes, I am almost 21 and yes he is, like, 17. But I love the Bieber. And am not ashamed to admit I went to the theaters to watch Never Say Never... twice. ;) I think he's got talent and the movie made me love him even more. I can see him honestly sticking around. I do listen to top 40 music on the radio but nothing ever sticks out to me. They are not memorable songs to me, just some goofy stuff to pass the time away while I am driving. I mostly listen to my ipod though! I am a Michael Jackson girl still so listen to a lot of MJ. |

WOW Brit! Jackson is so blond! I never realized he was so light in his face. |
i'm a classic rocker fan all the way. like my tunes the way they are! |
This thread brings back memories. I haven't really turned this type of music on for probably a decade. When I listened though, I LOVED Hanson. I mean, it was bad. My bedroom walls were covered in posters. Taylor was on the wall by the head of my bed. When somebody is playing this stuff now, to me it actually just seems like it's the same thing over and over. |
I like Lady Gaga. As someone who grew up on Madonna's music, I think Lady Gaga is much more original and interesting. We'll see if she has the same staying power. Let's check back in another 30 years. :) I agree generally about music. I guess what I've noticed more is that there hasn't been a big wave that defines a generation. Rock 'n Roll, Disco, Metal, Hip Hop, Grunge... I don't think a really new sound has come out since the mid 90s. The pop music they play today sounds exactly like the same stuff as when I was a teenager in the 80s. C'mon, I want to be shocked by what the youngsters are into! :p I think something similar has happened in fashion. We've recycled the 60s, the 70s, and now the 80s. What happens now? We start on the 60s again? I think with both fashion and music, genuinely new trends are pushed by technology, like mass production of synthetic fabrics. There haven't been any major innovations in either area for the past 20+ years. I think that's why stuff has been so, well. Boring. |
I haven't listened to pop music in about 3+ years just bc of the fact I think it's totally annoying!!! Then one day we get the idea, oh let's go to a club! I'm sure they'll be playing all the new hot songs! WRONG! They were playing the same crap from the 90s. wtf! This is why I listen to news radio in the car all the time now. btw, Brit, I'm sorry, but your bf Bieber needs to go away. And get a hair cut. And grow some facial hair. And that is all said without ever hearing a note of his music. That's from looks alone. LOL That being said, I now listen to classical, big band and swing, rockabilly and honkytonk, dubstep, and house music. My favorite band of all time is the Cure. :D |
I can't say I like ALL new music, but I do like some of it. But there don't seem to be big hits that we'll look back on in 20 years and think wow, that song totally defined that time in my life! A lot of it is the same old thing. I'll like one song and then it's played 3948795237454 times a day, and it just gets to be too much! At home, I always set the tv to Big Band or Jukebox Oldies, and I like listening to Sirius in my car. I listen to 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's the most :D The 50's I just love, the 60's and 70's my dad always listened to, and the 80's and 90's are what I grew up with :) |

They are really nice guys! I can remember the feeling of just breathing the same air as them, hahaha. Good times. I miss the innocence of it all, really. I'm gonna see them and NKOTB this year... it's still odd for me only seeing one or two shows a tour. I'm kind of ashamed to admit how many I went to! Here's a few pics. |
