Painting wood trim?? Have any of you painted your stained wood trim? Did you like the results?? I'm in the mood for a change/update and I'm considering painting the wood trim an antique white. I've been searching sites and I like what I see but I just can't picture it in my home..... This kitchen is so beautiful with all the painted cabinets....I really would like to do this.... I love them painted. I agree it looks so much brighter and cleaner. Richer looking I think! JMO |
I prefer painted in my home, but I can appreciate the beauty of stained in other architectural styles. Be sure to rough up the surface and prime with a good primer. :) |
In all of the pictures with the painted woodwork the rooms look so fresh, clean and modern. I love the look...I'm just a little afraid it won't look good in *my* home...... I usually love the look of stained wood if it's the wide base boards that you usually find in older homes or if it adds to the architectural detail of the home, but mine is not like that. I saw an article that had three questions to ask yourself: Is the wood builders stock pine or poplar wood? Do the wood add to the architectural look of the home? Is your home dark? I flunked all three so I should paint........hhmmmm |
Oh my, I love that kitchen and the painted cabinets look just gorgeous. Makes me want to paint my oak ones now....errr. |
I love, love, love painted trim, moldings, wainscotting, chair rails, crown, cove, etc. I bought a small cottage last year after by youngest went away to college. My kitchen is small and looked even smaller with very dark oak cabinets. But, they have are trimmed out well, have small crown at the soffit and have arched cathedral doors, so I painted them all and I love how they look! Next is new counter-tops :) |
