Why is it when you feel sick... feeling fat goes right along with it?? Hubby and I both have a severe cold/sinus thing going on and I swear I look 10 pounds heavier than I did yesteday  |
I don't know but it is true! Maybe fever and the lack of sleep and inability to breathe slackens our muscles and everything just falls but I always feel and look completely gross in every way when I have flu or a bad cold. |
Guys... given I'm an older person, when I get the Flu... WOW Actually, it's pretty dangerous for us Seniors, just can't deal with it as well as you "younguns". :D I was SO afraid of the Flu Shot, thinking it was going to give a case to me... BUT ! I've changed my mind about that TOTALLY ! I get one each year now, given that when I gave in and got one I stopped having the Flu completely, when previously, I would get some "form" of it each year. It's not that I don't get a case of the sniffles now and then, but the intensity is GREATLY reduced. You might think about it for yourself. Have a good Day ! :) S.W. |
My boss gives me the flu jab yearly and my doc the pneumonia vaccine last year and I still get sick every 3 years or so with a cold or flu, though the flu symptoms are reduced if the bug you get was in the serum - they are still awful. I always get an upset tummy when I get a cold or flu and can't breathe and can't eat or sleep, feel gross. I usually lose weight during a bout but feel fat and awful still! Being sick is just so wrong. |
I get a flu shot every year and have since I was about 35, I'm 48...hubby makes me get one because he does. I had a bad reaction to the shot this year and that's never happened before...not sure what happened but he may have hit a nerve when giving me my shot. Actually, my husband had the same reaction but not as severe as me...we did report it through the pharmacy. I do have one saving grace though...I might look like a blob wearing Skechers today but...I'm having a great hair day! :) |
I get the flu shot every year free at work. My hubby refuses to get one though he has asthma and it is recommended for him. I feel a little bad after getting it, but I also get sick to my stomach if i eat eggs that are not cooked really well. That might have something to do with that. Before I started getting them, i got really bad when I got the flu. I still get it but it does not last as long or is as bad as in previous years. When it knocks dh for a loop for a few days (he is the type gets it and is over it in 2 days if it lasts that long), I know it would have prob put me off work for a week if not for the shot. I have a cold right now, symptoms started yesterday, feel lousy today. I find my self slouching and that makes me feel really fat, (though by no means am i thin anytime). I think if you feel good, you stand up straighter and that makes a difference in how you perceive yourself. |
Both My Husband and I must have really good immune systems because we never get the shot and it is rare for us to get a cold or the flu |

My2Boyz -- you might feel bloated when sick, bc the body may be trying to retain water. Drink drink drink! |

I think when I have sinus issues - my face and eyes feel so puffy - my sinus's aren't draining properly. (I have bad allergies too). I have found that Mucinex helps - along with drinking lots of water. |

I always feel heavier when I am sick also, I think it is because I am laying around not moving and drinking a lot of fluids. Keep up withe fluids, you need them. As for the flu shot, I got my first one this year and so far knock on wood I have been healthy. I am also a true believer in taking daily vitamins (I take a woman multi vitamin and calcium/vitamin D). Just my personal opinion on vitamins, but they seem to help me stay healthy. |
Me, too! I have taken a daily vitamin since I was 16 years old. Now my doc has started me on daily Vit. D but I cannot read his writing as to the dosage he wrote on my blood test results note he mailed. It looks like Vit D 5000 but can't really tell if that is a 5. I hate to go through the whole automatic answering hoopla just to get to his nurses' VM to ask, LM and have her call back and LM, etc., and wondered if 5000 units of Vit D would be about right for someone slightly low in D on a recent blood test. |
