How much to have the lawn mowed? I was curious what people pay to have their lawns cut. Our lawn guy raised the cost by $10 a mow + state tax. So I am trying to see if this is average or high. Thanks! |
Mine costs $35 to mow, weedeat and edge. It's another $5 to have the clippings bagged. That's pretty much average rates around here, and it's sooooo worth it! :) |
going to depend on 2 things, location and yard size. Landscapers up here consider a 100ft by 100ft lot an average lot, going rate is 45-50 for cut, edge and blowing. But with gas going up, the landscaper is NOT going to eat that cost.. so expect increases |
$30.00 and that is very low here. |
Wow I didn't realize it cost that much to mow the lawn. I am so glad I do it myself. I actually don't mind doing it at all. See how much money I save by doing it myself. I will have to tell Hubby how much I save us!! :p hehe Maybe I will put $30 in an envelope everytime i mow it and then I could buy something nice. |
Yes and no, depends on what your free time is worth to you... For my yard it takes 2.5- 3hrs by myself to do... I have this discussion every year... that is time I could be on the beach, or on the water... so like most things in life it is a subjective thing. Kinda like this scenario, up here in the North we have to have our sprinklers blown out in the winter... it generally costs 50-60 per year... Why pay that, when I can buy my own compressor for 200, and in 4 years I will be in the positive.. Now, just make sure you bank that money!!! |
We have about 1/2 an acre that gets mowed, edges trimmed, the yard gets blown out and the clippings get carted away for about $35/week. |
$25/ mow and that is cheap for the area, because it is not a big company just a small business guy. |
Oh, much better pay than do it myself! |

I have a wonderful retired neighbor that mows most of our properties. $50 per month. He mows 2 x per mth in the winter and once a week in the summer and does all the weeding. I'm blessed to have such a good neighbor :p |
Mowing in the winter is fundamentally wrong in NJ ... We need to remove ice and snow first.. That guy is a nice neighbor to have! |
My front yard is the only place with grass and we mulched one half of our front yard so the yard is pretty small so it costs $10 for a neighbor kid to do it. We are getting rid of all our grass this year though and putting in a stream and just put mulch and hostas and flowers in the front yard. |
Last year, it was $100 to mow 2 acres & trim around the house. Clearing the culvert was extra. This year, I plan on getting my riding mower fixed or buying a new one, cos I'm sure the prices will have gone up with gas so high. |
At our old house - with 1/2 acre of fenced yard in the back AND on a slight grade - it cost $35 to mow, weed-eat; and clean up. NOW, we have a smaller yard and it has only cost me the price of a mower because my teen-age son will be taking over those duties! Much to his dismay. |
