Do you have a special Thanksgiving dish? My daughter and I always do the cooking since Mom is 76 now and refuse to put her thru it. We take it all over to the old people's house for Thanksgiving since there is more room and it wouldn't be the holidays unless it was at Maw Maw's house. Looking for some new ideas instead of the same old thing each year. Daddy HAS to have his lemon squares or I wouldn't be allowed in the house :D , but what else could I surprize them with? Any ideas? |

My mom makes a great sweet potato casserole. Sorry I don't have the recipe though. |
You guys are making me hungry for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm picturing a big, fat roasted turkey with southern style cornbread dressing, noodles, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, sweet potato casserole, baked ham, pumpkin pie and anything else that sounds good. Oh! I almost forgot the cranberry relish. And I still love celery with cheese! |
OH man...dont get me started on this...I LOVE TAHNKSGIVING DINNER! I have started a diet today tho and this is pure torture but here goes nothing. OK, my mom make, Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn a vegtable tray, cranberries, stuffing, rolls and then this green and red jello with whip cream! and PIES YUMMY! |
Oh! I love Thanksgiving dinner the best, too. It's my favorite. We usually have whole wheat rolls, but sometimes other kinds. I just love those hot rolls with butter dripping off of them Toni! :D I couldn't resist since you said you started a diet! :p |
I LOVE Thanksgiving as well :) I LOVE to cook but this year we are going to my In-laws and she is from the south lol SO that means a little more butter in every dish ;) but it is sooo yummy. She makes a great stuffing and turkey and she thought me how to make her famous rolls and bought me a bread maker which I LOVE :) she also make a GREAT sweet potatoe casserole ( which I never had growing up) :) |

Hahaha at "little more butter". I have a friend who cooks "southern" and its so fabulous and yummy! I don't know why people down south aren't fatter... Francie |
i have a recipie for a spinach casserole. it sounds bad, but even my little sisters and neighbors who "don't like spinach" like it. it has philly cream cheese and farmers cheese, fresh garlic, and frozen (thawed and drained) spinach in it. feeds alot of people. but, i have to have cran sauce and sweet potatoes w/marshmallows and brown sugar on top. |

We have our Main Thanksgiving Dinner and every year we try a new dish. There are a lot of recipes out there try putting in a search. Good luck. |
My grandma's stuffing. I took me a few times to master it since, like me, she cooked without recipes. Now I've got it down pat. The stuff weighs about 20 pounds in each pot and I can live on the leftovers for days after. We all still sing "tiny bubbles" when pouring the Asti in her honor. She was a treat! |

That is the best part about Thanksgiving- the leftovers! We made sure to get a turkey big enough to have PLENTY of left overs! I love cold stuffing the day after Thanksgiving... yummm... I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it! |

OMG!! The left overs....YES! When you get the rolls open the up. put turkey stuffing and gravey on it heat it up and est them YUMMM!!!!! Oh guys I cant wait till next Thursday! |
Please don't get cold chills or gag when you read this story. I too am a lot older than most of YT members. When my children were very young, I made that lime jello, cottage cheese, whipping cream, crushed pineapple, crushed pecan salad. When I put it on the table, my son told me it looked like "Buzzard Puke". I nearly fainted. Every year since then, my entire family wants to know where the "Buzzard Puke" is. It's been on the table every Thanksgiving now for over 40 years. |

dressing is the best part as far as I'm concerned and candied sweet potatoes. That spinach recipe sounds great. I'll put my pumpkin cheese cake on if you put the spinach casserole. |
