our Service Men & Women I would ask all to stop and say a prayer for our men and women that are in the military serving our country. They give up so much for us and so does their family. Saying a prayer for the ones that serve our country and their families that sacrifice along with them. Bless them Lord. |
Thanks for thinking of this thread -- I add my prayers to service men & women around the world serving their country and often away from family for extended periods. My oldest son is a LT in the Navy, just home from a 6 month cruise and will be going on another 6 month cruise this coming fall. This is unusual to have to go on 2- 6 month cruises in two years but he had been lucky with no extended cruises for a long time prior so I guess it just caught up. Still this is such a long time to be away from his wife and daughters. I got to go spend a week with them in FEB and had such a great time. They know how to enjoy each other when they are together, making up for time apart. We can never take our freedom for granted -- so many sacrifice so much to ensure it is possible. Thank you! |

I bet the week you spent with your son FLEW by and wasn't long enough. I know you must have had a good time! I pray for your son's continued safety while overseas. My family and I will keep him in our prayers. Our son is a Ranger in the Army. He has served 2 tours in Iraq and just got back to the states from a tour in Afghanistan. His daughter was born while he was in Iraq. His wife and daughter lived in Italy for a year while he was in Afghanistan. This was torture for G-pa and G-ma!!:D I'm so glad we all had Skype. We got to see the G-baby, and still do communicate this way. Such a sacrifice our military men and women make for us. I want to say a personal thanks to all of those who serve our country. Thank you for helping make our country a safe place to live and for helping give us freedom. May God bless you and keep you safe. |
We truly take a lot for granted. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,Jesus Christ and a Soldier. One died for your soul; the other for your freedom. May God Bless America and may He Bless our Troops who serve to protect us!!! |
Thank both of your sons for their service:) As a vetern of the Navy myself I know the commitment it takes to leave your family behind, missing holidays, special moments that you miss out on. Speaking though from first hand knowledge, at the end of the day, the end of your tour of service, it is all worth it...every moment of it. God Bless the men & women who serve this country..past, present & future! |
Yes, we have a son that serves in the Army. We miss him and he misses his two little girls but he considers it an honor to serve and we are very proud of him and all who serve and thank them and continue to pray for all of them and their families. May God Bless each of them. |
I truly thank each and everyone that has given so much to our country..I will pray that all of you or family members have a safe return home you are appreciated |
Those serving are the best. That is all I can say. |
I have a son and a grandson in the AF right now, and I'm always praying for our military people. |
Yes, I have two in the military. My daughter is in the navy. She is in boot camp now. I am going to see her in Chicargo April 1st. I can't wait. Then she off to nursing school. My son is in the marines and is leaving again to Afgan. in May. My heart skips a beat when I think of them. I am so proud! I pray for everyones safe return home. I sure do miss them when their gone. My life is just not the same without them. |
We are blessed beyond measure. :flag: We cannot praise and pray for them and for their families ever enough. No words can truly thank them for their patriotism and can-do attitude. When I see those so-young faces of our men and women in uniform it just stops my heart for a second. How can any one nation be so blessed with as we with the quality of character of the those fine young people in our military. Godspeed and prayers to every one of them. |
Bless all of you that have family members serving and Lord be with the ones that are serving this country. |
We should pray for them daily. And thank them every chance we get. I am a teacher and this year I have one class of Social Studies. On Veterans Day I gave a long speech about how we need to thank the men and women who are serving or have served. We talked about freedom and sacrifices made. I told them how I will go up to veterans and tell them thank you. And how I have seen grown men tear up when I do. After my speech, my students wrote letters to the men and women in the military using Operation Gratitude. They also donated money to send the care packages. I was so proud of them. For anyone who has family members or friends in the military please send a huge heartfelt thank you from Arkansas. Please let them know that my family is praying for them. |
BabyGirl Rosie ........ You must be a great teacher! Thank you for teaching our children to respect our troops and help them realize what they are doing for each and every one of us and our country. We need a lot more people like you. |

Thank you so much. Respect for others is a dying thing with many of our youth. I try to instill life skills in my lessons as well as the content. So many of them don't get it at home. Respect, kindness, appreciation, etc. is something that many of them don't understand. I was so proud of my kids when they did it. I teach in a rural school. Many of these kids are very poor. It was a sacrifice to them to give a $1. I don't know if I am really making a difference or not. But I am sure not going to stop trying. Thanks for the kind words. |
BabyGirl Rosie what part of Arkansas do you live? |

I live in the River Valley. Right next to the Oklahoma border. :) |
BabyGirl Rosie we are neighbors. I retired from St. Edwards Hospital. I am proud to know we have a teacher with your standards teaching in the area. |
Very nice Thread! I saw my father coming home from Vietnam and the attitude of our country has changed for better. Now my daughter who is a 2nd lieutenat in the AirForce and on her 3rd year of Medical School at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda MD. She is currently working with the Phyciatric patients at Walter Reed Hospital and has told me horrible stories. Some of our men in their 20's with blown off limbs just staring off into space, no one to talk to and wanting to end their lives. It would be wonderful if people would get together and send cards of appreciation to our men(boys) that are home and in situations like this. If you are a veteran, take time out of your life and volunteer your time at your local VA hospitals. They just want someone to hold their hand and hear their stories. Blair, my daughter was eating at a local restaurant and in uniform, when she went to pay her bill, the waiter told her a gentleman anonymously paid her bill and said,"Thank you for serving our country." Yes our country has changed for the better and I am proud to be an American... |
Manolos mom I thank your father for his service and your daughter. Whenever I see a military man or woman in uniform I make a point of going over to him and thanking him or her for their service And I try to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project monthly Wounded Warrior Project - Home We owe our military members so much. |
Had to post a reply ... my son is in the Navy. He is stationed in Pearl Harbor. I was so worried, but my son and his wife are safe. I haven't seen him in over a year. My brother also serves. He is a Captain in the Army, and has done 2 tours in Afganastan. He is now stationed in Germany. I miss them both VERY VERY much. |
I always feel so incredibly humbled when I think of/see people in military service. It takes a very special person who is willing to sacrifice their life for all of us and their country. Off topic but on-topic too, me and hubby just watched Band of Brothers...and I can't recommend it highly enough. It reminds me a bit of Saving Private Ryan - but goes into much more depth. |
