Do u wear contacts?? I am new to wearing contacts and I'm wondering what the best, most comfortable contacts are for someone with an astigmatism. And where is the best place to order them??? |

I have an astigmatism and I opted to just wear the proclear contacts which do not correct the astigmatism. I am very near sighted (my vision is something ridiculous like 20/550) and the best fit for my steep corneas was the proclear. I have friends also very near sighted who wear this brand for the same reason. I hate a bad fitting lense and I've gone through quite a few brands and solutions in the last 27 years of wearing contacts. I order my lenses from DISCOUNT CONTACT LENSES - Online Lens Savings of up to 70% and they are pretty good with pricing. |
I wear Air Optix for Astigmatism now and I used to wear Soflens Toric. Both are great. I was fitted with a pair of Acuvue for Astigmatism but they were so uncomfortable and never really fit right. FYI- I use Clear Care solution and it is GREAT! Makes my contacts last much longer and really gets them clean. If you get it just be careful to READ the box before using it. LOL! |
I agree on the Clear Care for cleaning - works great! I also did not like accuvue for astigmatism. |

Who has the worst vision? My prescription on my contact box says -11.5. I can only wear acuvue bc they are the only company that makes my prescription, and the highest they make is -12 so if my vision gets worse then I am screwed. How old were you when you had to get glasses? I was in the 2nd grade. No joke. |
I wear Acuvue moist dailies. I hate dealing with cleaning them and stuff, so throwing them out each day works best for me. |
Capt Noonie, I have only recently (in the last 5 years) had to start wearing glasses. I have always had perfect vision. about 5 years ago, I found out I needed to start wearing reading glasses. and every time I go to the eye doctor now, my prescription is worse and worse. so my eyes, with age, are getting bad. at the rate I'm going, I'll be legally blind before I know it. It's not that bad yet, but it is quickly getting bad. very disappointing!! And since I was in my late 20's when I had to start wearing them, it has been very hard to get used to! |
I tried Air Optix and another one like it and I HATED the blink-refocus thing. It was horrible. So I got the Acuvue Oasys Astigmatism ones. Yes, they were dry and uncomfortable at first but I gave them time and they are OK. I don't get 18 hours out of them like with my old ones, but I can see SO CLEARLY. That's what made me want to give them a chance - I could see so much more clearly than the others and they didn't ever do the refocus thing, but they were uncomfortable. They promised me that would go away and it did. I gave them about 2 weeks and eventually adjusted to them. At first I could only do like 2 hours at a time. The eye dr. said about 15% of people just do not like those types of lenses, so I must be in that bunch! Once I got used to them they finally felt normal to wear. I would say that they only really bother me now when it's time to change them. I also use Systane eye drops after I take them out and before I put them in, but my eyes are just getting drier as I get older. I don't think that is the contacts' fault. Once you decide what to get you can shop around for contacts. Just get a prescription for them and order online or go to Costco. Usually the Dr. will give you some trials of different brands to see what you like so if they take the time to work with me I just order the first set from the doctor's office. I've found most doctors really don't charge more than $5-10 a box more than the discount places, so it's better to make sure you're getting something you like and you can always go find them cheaper later. |

I don't like Acuvue oasis. I feel like makeup or some kind of residue is always getting stuck on the lenses and it is very hard to clean off. I asked the dr about it and she said a lot of people said the same thing. |
I used to wear them (-5 prescription) then had lasik surgery 10 years ago which brought me back to 20/20. Best thing I ever did in my life! |
My vision is beyond lasik. :( It'd just be a waste of money. I'd still be like at a -3 IF I'm lucky. :( |
I tried the Acuvue for astigmatism and they made my eyes itch so bad I thought I would lose my mind. They were even blood-shot and swollen after 3 hours of wear. The only thing on the planet that I am aware of being allergic to! lol. Air Optix bothered me also, but not nearly as bad. I wear the Biofinity Torics and they are amazing! I wash/store in the Rephresh and never have a problem. Love 'em. :) I was surprised I had such a difficult time finding lenses that worked. |
The Air Optix night&day are the BEST. My eyes actually feel worse when I don't have them in. (My Dr. said they were probably protecting my eyes from allergies and irritants. I can easily wear them for a month straight or more. (They are designed to be worn for a month) I usually do more though and they feel great. I highly recommend them to anyone who wears contacts! I have worn other brands that were painful and dry. These are the next best thing to lasik. Honestly, the difference is amazing. |
