I pray that any members who are in Japan are safe and unhurt!! That is horrifying what has happened over there.

I pray that any members who are in HI and CA will be safe un unhurt. You guys take cover. I am praying for all of you!

The pictures are just horrifying. Thinking abou my friends who are in Tokyo, Hawaii, Guam and Cali right now.

It is horrible news! Hawaii seems to have gotten little flooding from what I hear so far on network news and sure hope the West Coast is going to be okay. Prayers are going out to all those affected by this huge disaster.

Praying for all those affected by this horrible disaster. Hoping our members can check in when they get a chance...

I immediatly thought the same thing. Hopeing our YT members are safe and sound. What a horrible disaster!! Those poor people. It's the worst earthquake ever recorded. The aftershocks were 6.0!!! Unbelievable!!

Hi All,

I had to evacuate at 10:30pm last night with my doggies and few emergency things. Luckily made it across the island and upcountry to my daughter's in 2 hrs., before they closed the roads. Much better up here than living in my car w/4 nervous doggies. We are fine. A friend walked down the closed roads to check on my home, which is ok, except for plants & fence toward the ocean that got knocked over.

Hope roads will be open later so we can go home and get some good sleep. This wears me out. But, I feel grateful that there wasn't worse damage and that we are safe. The poor folks in Japan.

Im glad your okay and have minimal damage. I was wondering aabout you. This is just terrible and I feel horrible for the poor people in Japan and I just heard 4 people were swept out to sea in California. Im praying for all affected

Thanks all for your good thoughts. They have opened roads so the doggies and I will head home. Need some rest after all this, and anxious to see how much of my vegetation disappeared into the ocean.

I'm having a hard time watching the footage. It's so heartbreaking. I wish there was something I could do besides feel badly. :( I mean, I know I can give money to the Red Cross, but I don't know, something more direct.

It certainly puts my frustrations about working this weekend and being on a diet in perspective.

MauiGirl so glad to hear that you and your babies are alright. I am praying for all that have and will be effected by this nightmare of a disaster.

It is hard to imagine how Japan can deal with an earthquake, tsumani and possible nuclear disaster. It is just unreal.

Thanks for your concerns and thoughts, I was so lucky. I did lose a lot of vegetation, a fence & gate into the ocean. If it had been a foot higher it would have gone thru my house.

We are all still in a state of shock.

I am sorry for the damage done to your property. How scary to come that close to having your home wrecked! :eek:

I'm still somewhat shocked about it all. Evacuating with dogs at night really got my adrenalin pumping. Tried to stay calm, pack some important things in the car (but not too much), computers, hard drives, a few valuables, etc. and they say to take enough food & water for 7 days.

Shelters don't allow dogs here, so I was faced with living in my Nissan Murano SUV with 4 doggies if I was unable to reach my upcountry destination before they closed the roads.

I was somewhat prepared for evacuation, since I had to do it last year in Feb. But this time was harder because I was in bed with a bad cold & fever (thank God I didn't take any meds that would have made me sleepier); it was dark, my cell phone was working only sporadically, roads were jammed with people trying to get out, or forming long lines at gas stations, and news on the radio was totally insufficient. Arrggg.

As my head clears and nerves settle down, I want to process it all and think of how I could do it better *next time*. Emergency preparedness is so important for ALL of us. I'll start a new thread about that, and we can all share thoughts about being prepared for emergencies.

And yes, many prayers to people in Japan.

It will take awhile for you to unwind. So happy you are ok and your home is fine. Sorry about your plants and fence.

I also pray for those in Japan and hope that the incoming tsunami will be a SMALL one :( It's so scary. As for CA, I pray for safety for those in bay area. I don't think it will come to So. CA. So many natural disasters these days...:(

I hope you are starting fo feel better and so glad you were able to evacuate, even with all the problems you came across. Also, such a good reminder to all of us to have a plan for emergencies.

Sounds like you are back home again (or at least I hope so) and all your pups are doing well.

Thank god you are ok! It's a reminder to us all to have an emergency plan in place. Just praying for the people in Japan.

I feel your pain!! I live in Miami and was here for Andrew. We did not evacuate because we waited too long and we would have been caught on the road. We were lucky that the eye passed south of us.. the radio and phones were working so I was listening to people calling in as their house were riped to shreds. sorry... just having a flashback:eek: I have been thinking after your ordeal.. I should prepare more-- I did not have pets back when Andrew hit! So thank you for sharing, it has helped me.

But a title wave is more damaging.. at least we had a bathroom to hide in...

Sandy, it's so good to hear that you and the pups are okay. I have been thinking about you. I couldn't live that close to the ocean. You are braver than me, that's for sure!

I'm still processing it all and have some workers here cleaning up debris and broken fence, so I can put new fence in. Tiki escaped and went on a wild run over a rock slope and up the coast---places she has never been allowed before, barking at surfers. The normal waves could have swept her away, and I'm not ready to do an ocean rescue. Arggg.

But I have no reason to complain, especially when I see the devastation in Japan. Praying for them all the time.
