How are those ny resolutions coming? Hi, everyone! You may remember that YT has a mini-community for weight loss. Right now that mini-community pretty much consists of Brit and myself, so maybe it's more of a micro-community. However, we are both doing really well! We each check in every day, and we've made great progress since the start of the year. The habit of posting about my day has really helped me stay on track. For everyone else, if you are working on weight loss, or thinking about weight loss, or maintaining, or just want to share some words of wisdom, we would love to have you! Hope to see you soon. You'll definitely be seeing "less" of me and Britster. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gro...e-mommies.html |
Self bump! Come on, there's got to be at least one YTer here who wants to join. :animal36 |
I really should join you guys. My #1 goal this year was to find a place for Kaji to live, weight loss being my second goal. Maybe I should switch the goals? |
I'm confused. Kaji doesn't live with you? |
He does, but I have to lie to my neighbors and tell them he lives with someone else. It's really uncomfortable where we live, if you call what Kaji does living (by doggy standards). No walks, no stimulation, no fun. :( |
Aw, poor Kaji. I didn't realize. Is that why he walks on the treadmill with you? Are you planning to move, or re-home him? In terms of goals, I don't know that it has to be one or the other. Even if you don't have time to focus 100% on weight loss, you can make some incremental changes and build better habits over time. Even just tracking what you eat currently would only take you a few minutes per day, and give you a good information about how many calories you maintain on, etc. |
We both need to move. :) I go where he goes. I know where my problem is with eating habits. I don't eat. I skip meals here and there, and when I choose to eat I make poor choices. |
That's a tough one. Are you actively looking at different places now? I found it really hard to get motivated to find a new place. Another goal life style wise could be to eat 5 servings of veggies per day, or to add a workout day to your week. Stuff like that. |
Well..... I would love to be a member of your mini-community, Quicksilver and Brit. I am really focusing on my main resolution of losing weight as well, because it needs to be done for my backs health, as well as mine. I have lost 5 pounds in the last month. Yeah! So where do we connect in the threads? And do I get a membership badge? :D |
Just click on the link in the first post on this thread, and then request membership. At the end of our diets, we'll be handing out skinny jeans. ;) |

I bet both of you are kicking butt....I am going to look at the groups blog now. |
My NY resolution was to quit smoking and I didnt keep with it but now I am trying again. I am not dieting {my Husband is weight watchers) but I have made it a goal to eat healthier with more vegetables and fruits so thats also what Im doing |
My problem is we are now very close to old town Placentia with tons of authentic mexican food places. Needless to say we've been eating mexican food pretty much everyday! I saw my gf's last night, and they said my arms look buff (from all the bike building) but my tummy is getting worse! we work everyday 10-10 so no time for cooking. I try to ride my bike more, but if I'm out buying stuff, you can't really carry food and stuff while riding a fixie! Oh I'm just full of excuses! :( |
Bumping this thread back up. Have any of you tried the myfitnesspal app for the iPhone or iPod touch? |
I didn't belong to YT then but set my sights on reaching my goal weight back last October by just eating smaller portions and healthier food and I met my goal weight plus. Weigh 117 and was going for 123. I think I reached that sometime in early January and have maintained easily since. I watched that movie "Supersize Me" and it really inspired me to start eating healthy foods and few snacks. |

So far, I'm enjoying the app. I'm putting in recipes I make or my mom makes to get an idea of what I'm taking in at each meal. It's a real eyeopener! |

Ah, I was just about to start another nag thread for the first of the month, but I see it's been bumped for me. :) I've lost a lot of weight -- I'm guessing maybe 25 lbs (I just take measurements). I've had some major non-scale victories, and I'm very excited to keep losing! Skinny Yorkie Mommies has helped me tremendously. Brit, Christinee and I post pretty much every day, and we have a couple other regulars as well. If you're feeling fluffy, I hope to see you there! Just click on the link in my siggy. :) |
Good job QS! :D I think measurements are better than the scale. The scale is evil and plays mind tricks on you. |
My resolution was to quit smoking and lose 10 lbs and I havent done either. I found out recently I have high blood pressures so im gonna get on the ball |
Well I kinda want to join in... I by no means need to lose weight, some people keep trying to tell me I need to gain, but it has been my goal to become more healthy. My goal is to start doing yoga every other day, I'm at about twice a week now, and my bf has started with me... cause well he kinda does need to lose the university beer belly ;) before it stays for life :D He has also started trying to remove excess sodium from his diet, and junk. Me on the other hand, I LOVE chocolate, carbs (especially bread and pasta), salt, ice cream and greasy food. I have a feeling if I keep that up I'm destined to need to be on a diet sooner rather than later. So I've made it my mission to regain my high school fitness regime (I used to care for 15 horses and ride 2-3 per day, and weight lift). So I'm going to go join for health moral support. I just can't see me giving up the sodium and chocolate :( |

So definitely looking forward to the support and helping to support others. |
Yes, I know I haven't been keeping up with checking in. There is just so much here on YT to keep up with. As for my resolution, that is going pretty well. I joined Weight Watchers, have been walking around a local lake since the weather has gotten better and have been using Wii Fit Plus. I tried Jillian Michaels 2011 but she kicks my butt. So far I'm down 20.8 lbs with another 15 or so to go. According to the weight guides I should weigh 116 but, friends, that ain't :D gonna happen. |

Still, there is proof in the pudding - having all the energy and feeling really good is the best! Don't get me wrong, though, I love my Fast Food - Whataburger, pizza, Sonic! I love my homemade fudge! I just eat less of it now plus the metabolism seems to burn fat better the less you weigh. Can that really be true? It sure seems to. But having normal cholesterol and BP, fitting into your skinniest jeans and feeling good are big incentives to eat better. Still, how bad can a stuffed crust triple Pepperoni pizza be when you are dying for one!?!?! I could eat a couple of pieces and freeze the rest! Pizza is my favorite food in the whole world and has been since I age my first bite of one as a kid. Mmmmmm. |
