where is it? I spend half my life looking for something. It is so frustrating. I get so mad at myself. I try to be careful to always follow the same habits for putting down my keys, glasses, important papers or whatever but it happens way too often. Does anyone else have this problem? I have even let out the dogs and forgot they were out. Maybe I should have some testing done? LOL I was told as long as I know what to do with the keys when I find them I'm still ok! |
I have this problem! Especially with keys! I'm pretty good now at putting them in my purse, and my purse on the table by the door to the garage. We do have a key hanger by the door, but we don't always take my car and my keys to the office are on there too  But I always remember my purse. I lose my cell phone a lot around the house, but luckily it's just a phone call away! :D I couldn't find my mp3 player for the past week, and this morning I realized it's on the bathroom counter! Lol. I know how you feel! I saw a thing in a catalogue a few years ago, where you could attach a little pagers to things you lose a lot, and then there's a main station where you can press the button of whatever you lose and it would start beeping :) I really considered getting one! |
You're not alone!!! I have such a terrible memory..my dh teases me it's 'old age'....I'm only 42!!! But I can't EVER find my keys, my shoes, my sunglasses, my PURSE, my cell phone, my brush, my reading glasses, my favorite pen!! and.....I could keep going...but you get the idea!!!! It seems to be getting WORSE and WORSE:rolleyes: Is this an early sign of dementia? :D |
I know exactly what you mean.:( |
I double sometimes triple check doors are locked, curling irons unplugged, oven off things like that all the time. |

It's not losing things that's the problem for me, it's the finding them!! I'm always finding I've put the strangest things in the refrigerator or the dishwasher or some stupid place! A couple of weeks ago I bought some new light bulbs and the next day I opened the refrigerator to see the light bulb box laying on the middle shelf. :p |

I have to write down everything I need to pick up when out shopping, and then I sometimes forget my list, or my glasses. I was told by a gal with a PHD in nutrition to take 3 Omega 3 gel caps a day. (I buy the NOW brand) It seems to help with a lot of my forgetfulness. |
When my eldest daughter was around 18 months old - she is now 44, we were over at my parents house in the morning. Lunch time we decided we would have fish and chips from the local chippy. I went to buy them taking my daughter in her stroller. When I got back to my parents, my mother asked where my daughter was!! I rushed back to the chippy and there was her stroller parked outside and she was just enjoying the activity in the area. I couldn't believe I had forgotten her. Luckily this was a town where you didn't have to worry about children being kidnapped etc - and a total different era than today of course. My mother never let me forget it! |
The kids are always on me for losing my keys I have this thing that you whistle and it beeps (my sister found it at a garage sale) the only problem is that I can whistle loud enough to set it off. My other big thing is forgetting where I set Gatsby's leach/harness/collar |

Another thing I do ischeck over and over if I turned off lights and stuff. Trying to save on electric bill |
We went out to a friend's 70th birthday party Saturday evening. Bruce took his shower before we left, he took off his watch and put it down on the bathroom counter. After his shower he picked it up and took it out of the bathroom. He still hasn't found where he put it down after leaving the bathroom!:D |

This is too funny; I have NO memory at all anymore. If I don't write it down . . forget about it. And, YES, I am always looking for my keys (which really gets me ticked off). I can't decide if it's an age thing - or if it's a working Mom thing with too many things to try and remember each day. |

I can easily locate my keys. I locked them in my car twice in one week :rolleyes: |

I found it!!!! After his shower he had gone into my office to get my jewelry out of the safe and had laid the watch on my computer desk, between the Dymo printer and postal scale. It has a black band on it so I never noticed it laying there. I just decided to check and see if he had inadvertently put it in the safe when he got my jewelry out (although he didn't see it when he put the jewelry back) and I don't know why but when I walked into the office and got near the computer desk I spotted the watch! Now we can quit looking! (it was only a cheap $10 watch!!!!) |
My parents would tell you I've been forgetting things all my life. It started getting worse with each childbirth (2) and over the years. (I'm 47). However, I just THOUGHT I had a bad memory prior to last year. Last year I had 27 hours of surgery (I'm fine :)), and one of the side effects is a ridiculously poor memory. If people didn't know better they really would think I have dementia. I hear it should get better with time...waiting, waiting... Wait, what were we talking about? :D |
