Do you ever accidentally speak "Dog" to people?
 
For some reason, this happens to me all the time in the grocery store. Someone will be lingering in front of me, I'll open my mouth to say "excuse me", and out comes a brisk, cheerful, "Let's Go"!

I've also found that when I'm thanking the cashier, I often say, "Good Boy!" Talk about embarrassing. I think it sounds so weird that people don't understand what I said. At least, no one has looked offended, yet.

Thankfully, I have caught myself before actually uttering the words, but, yes, I understand. I almost have greeted people with "hello puppy," or "beautiful boy," and thanked them with a "good boy." I have almost corrected or called people with a uh, uh, uh and kissy, kissy, kissy.

Sure signs that we talk to our dogs tooooooo much. :D

I've never used my "dog" words on people, but I have caught myself talking in that special voice so many of us use with their pets. You know the one I mean... the one that makes teenagers roll their eyes or plead with us to stop.

I haven't caught myself saying anything doggish to people. Then again, I work with 9-10 yeear olds so it is almost the same language. LOL sit down, no, get that outta your mouth...*sigh*

LOL, boopster, I do "Sammy's voice" too. Especially with my best friend who has a voice for her dog too. I think my kids are so used to it but I try not to do it in front of their friends!

Only with people we are around all day and it usually involves Kacee in some way, but they are used to it by now.:rolleyes:

Oh, I forget all about "uh uh uh"! I do this at WORK! Fortunately, much less than the other stuff. But if I need to tactfully correct someone, sometimes "uh uh uh" comes out. Not all that tactful.

The only thing I have ever done is call my daughter my dogs name :eek: oops!!! She doesn't find it too funny. lol

Off topic but just want to say that I LOVE your new profile pic of Thor.

And to address the thread - I find myself using the tone at times, but not the actual words.

I did once, address a co-worker, with 'What Sweetie?" ~ on a long trip home after a loong meeting. My son was about 2 at the time. I was really embarrassed.

This is a bit opposite of what we are discussing, but I taught Kacee "Uh-oh" for accidents when she was a baby. Now, when we are at work and someone does something, I still say "Uh-oh" and Kacee's head swings around at me as though she did something wrong. Bless her heart!:D

HAHAHA! I do this too! I've been working with children for years, and I know there was a language I used with them before I had Kaji. Now that I have Kaji in my life, I find myself wanting to call my bff's 5 year old, "good boy" for playing nice with Kaji, or his golden. I also started to pat and rub my boyfriends tummy like I do Kaji's. Oh dear.... I'm treating everyone like dogs! :p

i do it...i will start talking about dogs in total baby talk and can't stop myself. and i will talk to someone's kid or baby like my pups kinda like what a good girl, good girl.
