heart does not melt!!!! OMGosh, we just saw this on the local news and I just cried.
I am too guilty of not remembering just what is given up by these incredible men and women.

We are a very strong military family who believes in fighting to keep our country safe and free. My husband retired from the AF, a son was in the Army, another in the AF, and I currently have a son who's been in the AF for 15 years that keeps being sent to the hot spots, and a grandson in the AF for 2 years now. We love our country and are always in the midst of military friends coming and going and some don't make it back, but it doesn't slow our love for country. My husband was in the missile field for 20 years, retired and went straight into the space lift program (intercepters) with Boeing . It hurts us deeply when we have protesters standing in front of the base here with their signs wanting the missile defence program stopped. Why don't they realize that if we put this aside we would be a target. There wouldn't be anything left of the US. People need to get out there and support our military, and thank them for keeping their warm, happy lives safe!

I was in the Navy for 4 years and so was my husband. If I wasn't too old I'd go back in today! We as a nation should be so grateful for the freedoms we have that so many do not. I don't understand those that protest and complain about the military, it really burns me up!!!

I know I am guilty for letting the day go by and not thinking about the sacrifices made by others. However, I am truely thankful to both of you and the thousands of families like yours who have went without so that I can live with.

I hope my post was not viewed as anti-military. Seeing that little girl run into her daddy's arms was just such a beautiful moment. To know there are men and women willing to give their time from family and even their lives for this country makes me feel so proud and yet so guilty that I am not doing more. Soldiers and their families are an amazing group of men, women and children.

Thank you for the sweet comment. The thing that gets to me is when the daddys come home and the kids don't know it, and they show up at their school to surprise them! To see the range of emotion in children that young is so very touching!

Oh wow! Just that thought brings tears to my eyes. I teach 5th grade and would probably just loose it if that ever happens to one of my kids.:)
