Priceline Have any of you every used the "name your own price" part of Priceline? We just did it for the first time and I am so impressed! As some of you know we're going to Europe in a few months, and my boyfriend's boss said when he and his wife went they stayed in 4 or 5 star hotels for really cheap by using Priceline. Well, private rooms in hostels are pretty expensive in June if we want to be close to city centers. So we decided to give it a shot... if we pay the same amount we might as well stay somewhere nice! We ended up getting a gorgeous hotel in central Edinburgh with regular rates of around $250 a night, for just $85 a night. That's less than what we were going to pay for a hostel! We actually could have gotten it for $75 a night, as we found out later! Our bid for a 5 star in Dublin was denied, but we can try again tonight (24 hours later). Has anyone else gotten really good deals using this method? So far I'd totally recommend it if you're looking at hotel stays! |
we use priceline all the time! always get good deals, especially when it is last minute. you can also check out hotwire.com the smae sort of idea, but they tell you the price, area and star rating of the hotel, but not which hotel it is that you are getting. if you wanted to get really high tech about it, there is also a website called betterbidding.com that people post on to let others know what they got certain hotels for, but it gets a little confusing... |
That's the website where we found out someone just got our same hotel for $75! I didn't really understand it when Scott showed it to me but he understands it so it works out lol. I really don't think I will stay at a hotel for full price again! Does hotwire work best with last minute deals? We wanted to have everything planned out as far in advance as possible because we're on a bus tour for a few weeks before backpacking and won't have any internet time. I already feel relieved that we have more booked and don't have to worry about it anymore. |
Im glad you got a good deal. My Husband always books our hotels and hes gotten some good deals a few times using them |

You got a great deal! Enjoy your trip. Edinburgh is absoloutly beautiful, it is one of my favourite places to go. It is a couple of hours drive from where I live in Newcastle and it is so strange, because as soon as you pass the sign which welcomes you to Edinburgh it is like a totally different place. I cant really describe it but you will understand what I mean when you go there. The scenery just changes instantly, it is like something from a postcard. So beautiful! |

I've always wanted to visit Loch Ness, maybe in the Summer some time I might get there. Edinburgh really is picture perfect, I love it. The zoo is pretty neat there too. And there is also a huge moterbike track there where you can hire cars to race or go carts! :D |

I just looked at that one too! But I am SUCH A WIMP! If I went on that it would have to be in the middle of the afternoon on a bright sunny day lol. Of course, it will always be dark and scary underground! |
Well we tried Priceline again last night for Dublin, but nothing was accepted! We'll try again tonight. |
