iRobot Vacuum - Anyone Have One? I want a robot vacuum. Does anyone have an iRobot? There are many mixed reviews and I'm a bit skeptical to spend so much money on something that I'm not even sure is worth the cost. Does anyone have one? What are your thoughts? |
not worth it. I got one for Christmas last year and it really never did the job.. gets struck all the time and then just quit working. |
I have the iRobot Scooba - and I love it. There are a couple of drawbacks, though. Pros are that I don't have to do the actual cleaning, and when done, my floors are spotless. It also cleans really close to edges and gets under stuff where I can't reach. It also vacuums up the dirty water. Cons are that it takes 3-4 tanks to really get my floors clean - I have a very large kitchen, hall, and small bathroom to clean. So it's not a "set it and forget it" operation. It also takes more power than one battery can supply so I bought an extra battery -- and now that they're aging it can take two battery changes instead of one. And though it vaccuums up the water as it goes, it still leaves the floors wet enough that it takes a couple of hours to dry. I just bought the Hoover Floormate for smaller jobs and when I need the kitchen cleaned and dried fast. I have friends who have both the Roomba and the Scooba and swear by them. Plus they make the cutest cat videos. Hmmm... I wonder if I can get Tallulah to ride on the Scooba? |
See what I mean about the mixed reviews? :( I think Cooper would run and hide and Max would try to eat it. |
I got one a couple years ago, and it worked for 3 months and then wouldn't even turn on. Since it was so long ago, maybe they have all the bugs worked out by now, but I still won't buy one after that. |
We love our roomba! We've had it ever since we got married, so no one has to vacuum! :) The only thing is, it will likely break down on you after a year or so. So we buy ours at Costco. With their crazy return policy, whenever it breaks down, we return it, they give us cash, and we buy another one. Recently we switched to using the Mint cleaner for our laminate floors. We still like the Roomba but the Mint cleaner is so quiet that our yorkie doesn't mind it. Also we can run it while we're at home. |

Have it...hate it. Good at first, but after you use it a while...it automatically shuts off for you to clean it out A LOT more often. Makes a clicking noise 1st, and then when you do clean it out (dirt trap and brushes), sometimes it still does it. Not worth the money. I'd rather take the time to vacuum my floors myself. |
I have one and never use it. The dogs barked and barked at it. They even ran at it and bit at it. I was afraid they would get hurt so it sits there never being used and I just use my ole' faithful Dyson. |
Update Well, I got one and it arrived today. The dogs barked and chased it for a while but they seem to be used to it already after cleaning 1 room. So far so good. Oh, and Max knows how to turn it on:rolleyes: |
