They copied from me! I am beyond upset, appalled is more like it! A site selling Madan products has copied the Madan Pin Brush page (main page when you 1st enter my site) exactly the same from mine (word by word, my words) ! They also copied a picture but changed the background color & added a border! I have sent them a message via their site to have it removed ASAP or I will take affirmative action. I have also reported them to the Madan Company. If anyone has experience w/anything like this or have knowledge in this particular field, what else do you advise? Please help.=( |
Oh Jenny! I'm sorry, I can't imagine how frustrated and angry you must be. :( I don't have any knowledge or experience that can help you with this but I'm always here for moral support if you need me. I hope this gets resolved soon! Hugs, Bonny |
I have a co-worker that thinks cutting and pasting things from other websites is no big deal. She tried to make me feel stupid for quoting an agency's website on a flier I made. I don't understand how people like that can think it's ok. IT'S NOT! They are STEALING other people's words. |
Oh that sucks, I'm sorry this happened to you, let them just try linking that on YT, they'll catch heck! |
I ran across a similar situation recently. It wasn't my website but I brought it to the attention of the website's owner. We had a discussion about it here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...en-valley.html If you read through the thread, someone did a "whois" to determine the owner of the copycat site, and part of that was an email address for reporting copyright infringement to the host of the website. Maybe you could try that also. |

watermark your pictures with your site name on them even if it is small. I have a lot of people trying to copy my artwork and have done that. I know their is something else you can do to disable right clicking your images but I'm not sure how you go about it maybe someone else will know. |
Thank you for all the advice & support! I will look further into what I can do (copyright wise) via Yola, as I built my own site through them. Yes, it's the same as stealing...:( For other product descriptions, like shampoo ingredients, etc. I have asked the companies if I can copy them onto my site. So them copying & pasting what I wrote...my words, is NOT ok. |
i'm sorry that happened. it is illegal to copy someone's work word for word like that. i'm sure you can do something through our website host. does your website say anywhere that "All rights reserved" or "Copyrighted by" that will help your case if it does. |
Wow Jenny that really stinks! How did you ever figure out that they copies your site? Are they a member here? |
This is what I found on Yola: "Anything that you put on your website that is your original work is automatically copyrighted; however, that doesn't stop some people from using your materials without your permission. This is something that all webmasters experience." I will be working on adding copyrights on all the pages on my site. This is also something Ladymom suggested, as she also did on her site. Thank You! |

I have gone back to check the suspected site & they have removed the Madan brush link. They must be working on removing my contents. Will keep you all posted. Thank You again for all your support, I really appreciate it! xx |
I'm so sorry this happened to you Jenny, That sucks. I'm glad that they are removing it though! |
Jenny, So sorry you had to go thru this. Hopefully they are realizing they are in the wrong. I printed up some fliers and did not think of watermarking my pictures-mistake on my part. I will definitely not forget to do it again. Good luck with it all. |
I went to check on the suspected site this afternoon & they have removed my contents & picture. I have updated my site w/copyright marks on all the pages & hopefully something like this won't happen again. Now, when I have some free time, I'll have to watermark all my personal photos on the site. It will give me an opportunity to update some photos as well. Thank you again for all your support through this ordeal, really appreciate you all being here for me!:) xoxo |

Sorry you had to deal with this. I have a school website and was told to be sure to put a copyright at the bottom of the page. I am also working on my masters in educ technology. We had to take a web design class. Here is a link to one of the sites we had to read about. It is the US Copyright office. Don't know if it will help but thought I would share. U.S. Copyright Office - Copyright Law: Chapter 5 |
No advice, just wanted to say I am sorry this happened to you. I had it happen to me 3x by 3 different people last summer. The worst was one of them was a customer, was still buying items from me, and was selling her own bows, with my item descriptions-VERBATIM. It's a very bad feeling! |
I'm so relieved for you that these people responded quickly and removed your info from their site. |
Wow, that's great that they responded so quickly! At least they didn't put up a fight. |
Update on the suspected site: They have removed my picture & only parts of my wording/description of brushes. I don't think they quite understand that they are still using my contents w/out permission. I have contacted them again & told them to remove it asap. This is from my site which they have copied & pasted before: BLUE & GREEN are very soft. They have the softest cushion, best for sensitive skin. Best for Yorkshire Terriers w/silky hair. BABY BLUE, ORANGE, & PINK are soft, great for both silky & cottony coats, ideal for everyday use. These are slightly firmer than the very soft. Best for breeds like Biewers & Maltese w/silky hair. Yorkies w/silky or cottony hair. RED & PURPLE are medium soft, good for thicker hair & recommended for everyday grooming. Best for breeds like Biewers, Maltese & Yorkies w/cottony thicker hair, LH Chihuahua & Japanese Chin. BLACK is standard soft for denser hair. Also great for long haired cats. Best for breeds like Havanese, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Pomeranians, Poodles & any other breeds w/long growing curly or double coat. If your Malt or Yorkie (or any other single coated breed) tolerates brushing, this brush is also great for brushing out tangles, along w/the small & oblong brush. BLACK w/RED cushion is firm, best for removing undercoat & heavier coarse hair. Best for breeds like Afghan Hound, Chow Chow, Old English Sheep Dog. Blue and Green are very soft. They have the softest cushion...great for dogs with sensitive skin. Best for dogs with silky hair. Baby Blue, Orange and Pink are soft, great for both silky and cottony coats. They removed a few words, but they're still my words, verbatim from my site. |
